That ranch wagon was our family Car. My dad built it when I was a toddler. The model pictured with the car is my mother.

 

That's cool, your dad did an amazing job on the wagon, I especially like the tail lights & tail gate trim. HRP

 

My high school car (actually my 3rd car - 28 Dodge 8th grade - 59 Anglia when 15). First engine my dad let me rebuild on my own - 292. Had to rebuild the trans several times. Wednesday run what ya brung at Irwindale would remove the gear teeth if I was too aggressive letting the clutch out in 2nd.

292 Y block, AOD transmission, factory Power steering, Vintage Air.

 

Just finished this one up, now the fun of breaking it in. 1st ride was to Goodguys show 5 hrs away. Did pretty good, now to fix water leaks

 

Hopefully I will get time this year to work some more on my 57 Country Sedan. I have been super busy with work, selling parts, remodeling our bathroom, going on trips, remodeling my daughters room and working the front yard over. hoping to get back to her in the fall.....

 

Ours, bought in 2007. Needs love these days its not been getting....

Just pulled this out of storage and started working on it again.

Never owned or wanted a station wagon other than a Nomad or Safari. When I was growing up that was a sure sign you were driving daddies car and that has stuck with me all these years. But I've owned the equivalent in truck form. Several Suburban's from 1960-1995 models

 

When I was in high school I played in a rock & roll band and transporting all the equipment meant we needed something to haul all of it, My dad was the manager and had a 62 Chevy wagon, unfortunately I was drive it on the way to a Friday night destination and was hit by a drunk driver, the wagon was totaled along with some of the equipment, we were able to borrow what we needed from another band and Brenda's grandmother loaned us her Ranch Wagon to haul the equipment, it's the same wagon we own to this day.

I grew up in sedan delivery's and wagons and still have a soft spot for them. HRP

I’ve always thought the really nice wagons had great styling because they had to try harder to sell a wagon.
It’s easy to make a cool looking roadster or coupe but the designers had to work harder to make a cool looking wagon

 

Perhaps it is where or when someone grew up. When I was in high school the Beach Boys song included; “I’ve got a ‘34 wagon and they call it a woodie”. I had a couple of woodies - a ‘51 Ford and a ‘51 Merc back then and don’t remember thinking it was a daddies car. Had a ‘56 Safari and sold it after going round and round with transmission rebuilds, cool car not a great trans.

Started out as a 30 FORD wagon but eventually morphed to a 34 wagon. But regardless it still got them where they need to go.

 

These are the wheels I was considering getting for my woody I love the look of them!

 

My apologies to Jan & Dean. Brian Wilson wrote some of it and sang on it. There was a lot of collaboration with those groups in SoCal.
