I cannot remember where I saw a thread about old waterslides or stickers/decals that were copied and available again. It might have been in the Ford barn but I realy don´t know. There were many pictures of various waterslides/stickers/decals on windshields etc. Hopefully someone remembers that thread and gives me a lead - thanks!

Just some rambling here....Back in the late 70's, in my early 20's, my travels around the USA began. In those days if you were out on the old 2 lane US highways you would still find an occasional old time gas station that had a display of water slide decals for many states. Love those things, I think I bought one of every one I saw. Then, in the early 80's, my first trip to Yellowstone park...Gold mine!!!! The tourist store there had several different decals for every state. I bought many, I think they were about a buck a piece back then. As years went by I always would go out of my way to get to that tourist store and stock up on some different ones. Time went by, they switched to the plastic stick on types, I bought them too. I had a cigar box full, sadly burned in my shop fire in 2010. Since then I have tried to buy some on ebay, and usually they are cracked and do not slide off when wet.
I try to get them for every state I drive my cars in. I then put them in their respective s**** book for a record of her travels. Mike
Theres people on Etsy that will make whatever waterslide decal you want. Had this made for my b***....
Some of the best decals I wanted to get for my '39 Chev g***er weren't duplicated as decals. All I found were duplicated as stickers. I had to bite the bullet and buy the stickers to match the decals that were on my windows before I installed new gl***.
When I got out of the Army in 1969 I removed all the decals from my rear side windows. I was tired of being pulled over by the police and it seems that my decals added to the look that caught their eyes. They were a mixture of speed parts and "kill" stickers. I reproduced a few, but they are vinyl stickers and not decals.
How much was he asking for them? Theres a ton on ebay, but most old ones are cracked or damaged from storage so not useable. I don't want wall hangers, I would want to put em on a car
Just a word of caution. If the decals are very old, chances are that they can't be used. My '46 station wagon has roots in Iowa and Minnesota, so I wanted to put those state decals on a window. When I immersed the decals in water they literally fell apart into dozens of small pieces. When I saw the vendor at a later show he told me that the decals were "only meant for display and can't be used because of their age".
So maybe if you buy a few, you could run them through you home computer and make copies. There is NEW water side decal "paper" if you will that can be run through your home copier with the proper ink
I've had good luck with using vintage water slides, you just have to be really careful with them. The newer ones that I see some guys producing now are a little different and printed on a white background rather than totally transparent. They have the same basic look, but not quite. They have a sort of milkier look to them when applied to gl***. I see these on eBay and have bought a few to try, with mixed results. www.ironandsteele.com
