Thanks for coming to our event @Bugguts. It was our first time at this and overall it went well. This event was part of Hawkeye Downs 100th year anniversary year-long celebration. We were disappointed in the car count for the dirt drags. We had 10 cars committed to coming but ended up with only 6. We were very happy to be able to display the open wheeled racecar that competed at Hawkeye Downs' very first race in 1925 and the restored yellow 1917 Hudson speedster that raced there in the 1930s. And to have not one but two ARDUN powered roadsters show up was amazing. Hopefully we can grow this event and get more race cars to drag race and more cars to attend the cruise-in in the future. And before I get chastised for having the hood open on my blue 1936 cabriolet, I know I know, keep the hood closed on a customs. I usually do but I decided to open the hood as we were trying to showcase the flatheads at the show.

Thanks for the recap. Very cool, especially seeing the pics of those two survivor open wheel racers. And my personal opinion is that car counts aren't necessarily the measure of a successful event. Well done. :)

Looks like a good time. I woulda went but it was the same day as the Twin Cities Roadster's (St.Paul) swap meet....and for me a swap meet always wins out. If you do it next year and it doesn't conflict with the meet, I'll show up.
