History Big and littles..or big and biggers. 21s and 19s, who has done it?

As shown, this is my A/T coupe. I ordered some 4.50x21 Excelsior tires for some good rims I have. I've tried searching, but does anyone have pics of a 21" fat rear and 19" in front on a "traditional" Model A, T, or anything gowish?

 

Oh man... no love for this thread?! I have definitely seen some roadsters on tall wires that look good... but I do not have any save pictures of them.

Nope. I'm guessing the later caps require a smaller opening?

Welp, my 21s came in and they appear way too skinny (4.50-4.75) to look right with my 19s. It'll be next week before I can mount them up and see, but they obviously fit the wheel well better.

 

It's had 32-5 hub cap rings - the cone the spokes are welded too fitted to the 21's. If that makes sense. It's super subtle.

That Rpu looks good, I'm guessing 18's

That's the stock tire size. Not sure why you'd expect them to be fatter.

 

It does. I think we're saying the same thing, but the way it was done was different than what I was thinking. I ***umed they cut & welded just the outer portion that holds the cap, but you're saying the whole center portion was swapped?! That sounds a lot more risky work, but given the right tools, probably a better process. It looks good!

Something you sometimes see is to use a 19 or 21" in the front, and then actually use a smaller diameter, slightly wider, Ford wire on the rear. 16, 17, or 18" will let you put a taller tire, like a 6.50 or 7.00 and still have the overall height be taller than the front. The smaller diameter wheel also makes the rear tire look bigger.

 

I expected them to be the same width as the fronts (which are numerically the same width), but the tread width appears narrower. Again, I won't be able to mount them until next week, so I only took a quick glance at them. Make better sense?
