I sent my 59A camshaft to a well known flathead shop (name withheld out of courtesy, but PM me if you want specifics) on the west coast several months ago and now can't get them to answer the phone, reply to emails or voicemails. I'm getting concerned I may have lost my camshaft. Should I be? Anybody else have this experience?
Well one of the bigger ones in the PNW was in the process of relocating out of state so maybe they are mid move?

If they've jerked you around for months and won't even acknowledge your existence, why are you being courteous? Call them out-maybe a HAMBer close by can check it out for you.

Hahahahaahhaa I was gonna guess it was them. They're the only people I know who do it in LA. That's a bummer though because they advertise resurfacing lifters too and I was going to send them some to do... I don't think they're hurting for money, and they'd rather sell you a new cam rather than regrind yours. Who knows for sure, but it's clearly not a priority for them! Send it to the guy in the PNW that Dale recommends! He seems like an ol' timer that has a p***ion for it, and he probably can use the money! 3blap.
They anounced in May that they were moving to AZ and have their building for sale. If and when it sells, they have 90 days to vacate and move.
I don’t believe they do their own. Fine if they do. Elgin in central Ca is another good as well as American cams in Covina or San Dimas…very local like Clay Smith. They just polished 2 GMC 6 steel cams while I waited.
I just had Ken at Delta Cams in Tacoma grind a couple of old cores I had to a SU1A grind and resurface a set of lifters. I dropped them off at the shop when I was traveling through the area and also toured the shop. The realistic turn around is probably 2-3 weeks for them. As to moving, I don’t see them moving out of Tacoma for at least 1-2 years as the market is really soft right now in their area and the city really needs to address the homelessness and vandalism in that area before they have any chance of selling the property for what they want for it.
I’ll shout out Oregon Cams, they did my early Hemi cam and the lifters and it was quick and the exact grind I wanted. Cost was less than a new cam for a SBC so I could not be happier about it
Another vote for Delta cams. I've had them grind cams for all my SBFs my flathead and my Chryslers. Good work and easy to talk to!
Oregon Cams reground a Cadillac cam and resurfaced the lifters for me last year. Good people to work with, I've been very happy with the grind.
Is Doug Herbert still grinding cams? I used to mail order them C.O.D. from Chet around 1982 to 1984. I even stopped by his shop in 1983... what an array of machinery!
Lots of advise about reputable cam grinders and even offers for blanks but the question still remains has H&H responded about where the Hell is the cam? Just asking.
One More Attaboy for Delta Cams in Tacoma !! Custom ground a roller for my SBF and then later 'touched-it-up' after a few lifters ate themselves. No Charge! And gave me a better price on new lifters than Summit could ! GREAT guyz to do business with.... 6sally6 Ken once told me they do A LOT of work for the dirt track guys in PNW and get REALLY busy with them soooo. Could explain why 3 weeks turnaround became months.. Jus Say'in

This is not the first report of sub-standard service from H&H I have seen on the forums. Makes you wonder.
Well, lots of better shops to choose from, so it won’t be long and they will wonder why their workload has fallen off.
I suspect with all the PR they get from the automotive media their workload won't be falling off, and may in fact be the reason why they're slow and non-responsive.
