Guess this might bring up some conversation. https://www.me***.com/lots/1176484/1959-chrysler-scimitar-town-car-phaeton/
It's not the car for me but its certainly something. Definitely foreshadowing the styling of the coming decades.
... and after being abandoned by its parent, adopted by evil rich parents. @squirrel , this would make a great Lemons car... LOL
That is offensive. I would drive it just to offend people. Knowing it has all- Chrysler running gear does'nt make it so bad. I dig the trunk lid which looks like someone has reversed into a post, and the after-market Radio Shack switch panel 'hidden" in the glovebox!
heh...I'll be in Monterey with a 59 Edsel in a few weeks, what good timing! The Scimitar is probably the zenith of ugly concept cars. Great to see it's still around for folks to admire
I disagree I think a blower out the hood and the front end jacked would improve this car immensely Dan
They threw a lot of stuff at it. I watched a video about Mansory yesterday. They do wild one-off stuff that shouts Look At Me, I'm Different And Extremely Rich. This would fit right in.
It’s definitely unique!! if it was painted solid black , get rid of the gold wheels and gold grill as @anthony myrick said , lowered with lakepipes I think it would look a 1000 times better , the paint job does not follow the lines on the car , and the gold accents dont line up with any other styling on the car either . Mopar had some pretty out there styling at this point in their history !
The convertible version is MUCH nicer. Different grille and no retractable top cleaned it up a bunch.
Sphincter is being kind... I'm seeing a whole lot bootlegged from Packards' Predictor, circa '56. At least that one was palatable. If ya can't beat 'em, steal from 'em, & do it shabbily... The Scimitar is horribly deficient in every visual way. Basic lines, shape(s), paint, body-detail, over-all looks & design. Almost like every known eye-retching(yah - gut, too...) form & line known to man jumbled & jammed together in one visual ****, design to elicit violent projectile vomiting. I'm guessing this'll stay in fairly nice shape for a long time, as, to quote from the past: "So ugly, even rust won't touch it." Lord, my eyes hurt - badly... ;( . Marcus...
