Im building a 27 t coupe on model a frame. Did the Tardel step in rear but wasnt thinking about the fact that I was running 1/4 ellptic springs and a triangulated 4 bar, Im as high on frame as I can go with springs. So my question anyone see any thing wrong with stepping frame just under or behind the seat to get height I want and not redoing suspension? I was in a dumb *** mode and everything was perfect till I sat the body back on. Its ok , just not what I had in my mind where ever that was!
posting pictures is super easy, here is the tutorial. make sure to select "full image" before posting https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ages-on-a-thread.922350/page-15#post-15929799
Elipticals going on top or below axle? Can you lengthen the shackle mount below the axle to get the ride height you want?
Ellp below axle and lenghting mount will start getting to close to scrub line. When I was doing it I was thinking of a transverse spring and screwed up.
Thanks everyone I will try posting pictures. One of the main reason I asked about step under seat is I could still use it as the seat platform and not have to channel the front. Or rebuild my suspension[ I did it twice being well?]
Mines like that however I’m probably going to step the frame in front of 4 bar mounts just under seat to drop car 4 more inch’s
I put my kick-up right in front of the rear axle tubes and under the rear seat. I didn't do a big kick up though. I wanted to keep the rear seat so I kept it to a minimum. I did a 3" channel on the body, although I do wish I had dropped the front an inch more than the back and gave the body itself a rake on the frame. .
If I do step it again it will be 4'' [frame depth] just under seat. I think this will let me set seat on frame[?] and not lose height. I will cut sub sills out to let body set down and possibly a 1'' channel in front. Will probably mock it up this week end after I finish front body mount. Have made the other 4.
