When I put the new Bruno together a spiral snap ring broke. I called Bruno's to get another shipped. He said you don't need it put it together. As it turns out I do need it. Without it there is a huge reduction in pressure.
Needless to say the car went no where. It's apart waiting for the snap ring. We might go to the Grove Sunday.

 

Thats frustrating when you call the manufacturer and get the wrong information. its on of those $2 parts .

Transmission related
a local racer I am around Trans pressure set 10psi higher then recommended ,
Pressure in pump pushed the T-Q out
pushing against trust bearing pushing crank closing off oil feed by half taken out bottom end of 20k 5 p***es .
Fix ,monitoring trans pressure & chamfer enlarging feed hole & setting up trust wear gauge ,
4:50's drag radial 415 cid.

Brain , About how long does it take to R&R yr trans ?

 

That video was from a few years ago. We still had the small tires on it. We were starting to really make power. Up until then the small tires were fine. By the end of the season we knew what we had to do.

I experienced nitro in-person for the first time a couple of weeks ago. NHRA in Epping, NH. I was fortunate to have pit access with one of the top fuel teams. OMG!!! I have been to drag races before, but nothing like that. The sounds, the fumes, the fury, the feeling at the hit. Unreal.

I picked up this Grob band saw today. It was serviced by a very experienced machine repair man. It's like new. It has a blade welder on it. Runs on 220 with a one horsepower motor. It came with ten new high speed blades. It was lifted onto my open trailer with a fork truck. Getting it off we used my car lift. It's always a tense time lifting this heavy stuff. Going slow and careful prevents a mess or injury. My friend will come over and wire it up this week. This saw is heavy duty.

 

I got this surface grinder a few weeks ago. The guy I bought it from bought it brand new. He said it has less than ten hours on it. The magnet is good. It came with several styles of magnetic parts holders and a stack of wheels. It was in his way so it was free. You don't need them often but when you do it's nice to have.

 

The latest Drag Racing Illustrated magazine has the results from Texas.

 

We will be at my home town track Union Grove for a booked in show. The Out of Site Drags out on by the Brew City G***ers is a great vintage show. Friday and Saturday there will be nitro in the air. We might do some quarter mile hits to try and get 200 mph.
Sunday we will be at the show in Waupon wi for some paid fire ups. It's a busy summer.

Pretty sure all good. I saw Brian in Byron and the blower on the car had an unusual blow up. More parts breakage and part of the game.

I saw Brian Thursday evening, everything is fine. He is ready for Cordoba and the next round of Nitro Chaos.

A cast blower rotor failed after ten years of running. The pieces flew up through the screen that separates the blower and injector into the injector hat. Nothing fell into the engine. This happened after a p*** as the engine shut down. Unbelievable that there was no other damage. No nitro driver I talked to has ever seen this. We pulled the heads at the track because you just have to check things out. I borrowed a blower from a friend and it was back together that night. When I got home the engine was torn down. I found back sided pistons. This scuffing happens when the oil gets polluted by nitro and alcohol. Fuel gets past the rings and goes into the oil pan. We do change the oil before each p***. The burnout and staging is where most of the fuel comes from. A high/ low side valve does help. While apart the cylinders were honed with a rigid hone finished with a rabbit turd hone. A bore gauge was used to keep them uniform while not putting too much clearance in the bore. New rings and pistons finished the short block off. The heads were taken apart. Springs were checked for pressure at 1.950 inches. The valves were check out then lapped in.
This past weekend the Nitro Chaos race in Michigan was rained out. With four days off I got back on my 66 Chevelle. We are still in second place with one race remaining. Blower cheaper then under the blower.

I switched to all billet big bore ,
A few of my hand me down's date back to 1 early 70's fuel use & bigger one off Bunny's F/c 90

 

I did upgrade to billet standard helix rotors. The case and end plates were undamaged.
The blower should arrive tomorrow.
The biggest issue with cast rotors is inconsistency with the casting. When the grooves are cut for the strips the thickness is reduced. Now if the grooves are in a thin area that's where the problems start. The most stressed area is the middle of the rotor. I sin the engine to 8000 rpm. Multiply that times 35 percent. That's a lot to ask out of a cast rotor. We keep fixing the weak link. This wasn't a cheap date
