I don't have room to collect trophies. Too much other stuff I collect taking up space in my ba*****t now. The trophies I have sit in a corner in the ba*****t with a few plaques I hung on the wall near the gathering.

Very happy to be the new caretaker of the 6 foot 1966 Fresno Autorama Sweepstakes trophy won by local Fresnan Don Lokey and his 27 T redone by George Barris.
Don also won the big trophy at the Oakland Roadster Show Americas Most Beautiful Roadster the same year.

I bought a couple trophy's at a garage sale- turned out they were from early 2000's car shows. One has a 75 Camaro on it ,the other a 71 Torino. I thought I could sell on Marketplace but no interest. So now I think I'll go to some shows and see if I can give to someone who has cars like that. If you guys want them, just pay shipping and I'll send 'em to ya.

I've looked at them at flea markets, garage sales etc but could never talk myself into pulling the trigger and buying any.

Honestly I always found it saddening that no one in the family wanted to keep them. I would hope if I'd have won some trophies racing or through car shows my boys would want to keep them maybe along with pics of the cars that won them just to have a piece of my history.

Not saying I wouldn't buy one with known history (well known show car etc). But just can't do it for local stuff...

  7. I wonder if those Oakland one's are my old trophies from when I was a kid? Did they come out of a storage in Turlock?

IMG_1010.jpeg I’ve got a few I picked up and a couple motorcycle toppers from a friend. His Father in law raced flat track . He stopped by to visit him one day and his FIL had pulled all his trophies out of the attic and tossed them in the dumpster. Donnie loaded up the trophies and his FIL racing leathers . He built a shadow box for the leathers . I picked the chair up out of a ditch . Glued it back together. Then added 1” boards for shelves and added the checkered flag pattern and flying eye
