I've got several stains from bird droppings on a 61 year old white painted roof. Turtle Car Wash and Oxyclean didn't touch the deep stain. Any suggestions for stain removal? Thanks.
Bird Poop is acidic so it may have burned into the paint. Try Wax and grease remover to soften it up and see if that helps. Then a cut and polish try that. If not and still burnt in the paint, lightly take 1200 or 1500 grit wet sandpaper ( sand very lightly a mil or 2 mil at most) removing the remaining poop. Make sure not to sand too much down to the primer / then light finish fluff polish.
I've never used them, but you might try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge. I've been told they work well for removing stains like this. Good luck!
Roofs are easy. Bright base coat, metal flake, candies, pinstriping and a liberal amount of clear and it should cover that doo doo. Like said above, the avian excretion may have etched the paint. a 65-year-old paint job likely doesn't have enough depth remaining for a cut and polish deep enough to remove the stain. A rood repaint is likely in order. How do you feel about lace?
Maybe try The Pink Stuff. Haven't used it myself but claims to clean safely and remove stains from most surfaces. They show it cleaning white shoes. Also Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda makes a surprisingly potent cleaner. But read up on the mixing and usage instructions before deciding. Update: Magic Eraser did a pretty good job. I may have to wax the whole roof to get an even sheen. There's a caution not to use it on "vehicle bodies" but I figured that was newer paint methods not 50 year old enamel.
