Outside of having more pookie spread on that chopped top than my 48 has all that scabbed on stuff at the bottom of the back can be cut off pretty easily.
I'm with those who think that it is or was rear engineed but if the body isn't hacked up to where it can't be fixed that isn't an issue with that body.

Drag it out so we can see it to make a better decision without the tarp.

For a first post it would have been nice to find who he is, where he is from and obviously a bit more info on it. But that is just me, a stickler for the rules.

  7. Sumac is alive and well in California, landscaping by sawzall. OP hasn’t been scared of yet, has gone back to lurking. Not sure where to attach the chain to yank it out and get a better look. What we can see looks sound enough, don’t even have to paint it. Possibly a candidate for the black on black on black thread. Inquiring minds want to know…

Looks like it's rescue time! You don't find those everyday and those rear pan
/ fender "add-ons" can be made to disappear quickly. More pics when you drag it out, Please.

    Honestly
    My first impression is….
    There’s something weird here.
    AI maybe?
    Mysterious poster?
Something is just off about this whole thing.
    That’s my impression.

Yep! Hopefully the guy with the fire wrench quit after the job on the rear.
More pics, please. Looks like a 32 5W to me also.

My first thought was that I would like to see the rest of it.

  18. It's half a coupe body on a VW trike ch***is with a long front fork. You have all seen those things at least once

The reason for this thread was that many years ago, my friend was in my beat up g***er, and he asks, "Why don't you primer your La Bomba?" (my 39 non Ford g***er 327, 4spd, fenderwell headers, daily driver for maybe six years)...
I explain that my g***er had been a finished, painted car, finished interior, from back in the day... a survivor that had been sitting for 15 years... I explain that IF I primered it, no one would know if it was built or primered last week or 35 years ago...
So recently, my friend has bought some street rods and unfinished projects...
I sent him these same pics... and his 1st thought / impression was... Is that your backyard?
Nothing about the car... but, IS THAT YOUR BACKYARD? Nope...

Now I realize that there are different levels of 'car guys'... but I was / am still disappointed with his response... not what I was expecting from him... even though he doesn't wrench on his cars...
I guess that I was hoping that he would appreciate old hot rods... history...
I realize that he might think that he's a 'car guy', that IMHO, actually he's a '1 (800) car guy'...
IF your car gets approval, nice car from a real car guy / gearhead, it means something...
I guess I need to accept that my friend is happy IF some little kid or non car person says, "ooh, shiny paint... pretty..." but doesn't know or care what it is, what eng / trans / gearing... oh, well... thanks for your time...

  23. I drag **** out of s**** yards and fields.
I spent the bulk of my pro life working on other people nice rides.
    I like em both
The current future daily had a tree fall on it
I plan to drive it like it was. Other than the tree still on it and lower. Dents and caved in bed side

that coupe is super cool. Doesn’t even need paint

In my mind you are thinking about this the wrong way.
What I mean is don’t build/buy a vehicle to get approval from anyone but yourself.
If you like the car, get it.
If you don’t, the p*** on it.

Looks like a project worth the undertaking to me. Yank it out and get started working on it. Would be interesting to find about the history of that thing.

What is up with the rear vented area? Aside from that,it appears to be a cool old home built hotrod.
