Someone sent this pic to me by email. Thought I'd pass it on. I have no idea who owns it or where it is located. I'm sure someone does:D

If I could, I would do the same thing. But then I would also line up a dozen Toyota Prius's and crush them with it, monster truck style. Might as well piss off EVERYONE while youre at it.

That shit isn't customized by anybody in the past 40-50 years. It was down by a farmer many decades ago. I am trying to find the story about it now. Later

so what makes a hot rod anyways? i get crap all the time by "old school hot rodders" who dont like my jacked up 58 apache. the tell me how its not a real hot rod whal they stand next to their fiberglass on some other frame ford with a chevy motor on air bags everything shaved and shiney. whats the difference? not many do it as it was back in the day. we can make so many improvements why not?there is a handful of folks who dont run technically advanced rides, no mods except era appropriate. but there a ton of others who enjoy to drive their vehicle every day and build what THEY like. how boring a world if people only built what i liked and i got to shoot the rest, ok the shooting part would be cool..................

Sad thing is it's still worth a ton of money.

...at least the sheetmetal anyway. :)

  17. For some weird reason, I've always liked the "Car on a 4x4 chassis" thing, but I'd use something I don't care about tearing up, bucause a 4x4 that stays out of the mud is as gay as Libarache in a Miata!

Richard, This isn't a mud bogger or monster truck. This modification was done for rural Mail delivery where roads were bad or snow made them impassible for regular cars. They used old cars because they were cheap and the fenders could be easily removed for tire clearance. My Grandfather mentioned these things when I was kid. He said with chains they could go through snow deeper than tractors could negotiate, and they offered some protection and heat for the driver. He said one running around his area took sick and injured people to the hospital or ran doctors around during blizzards. [ Doctors used to make house calls in the old days.]
In the 40's and 50's they were just old cars.

  19. I remember this one. This was a car that was drug out of a carn somewhere. It WAS used for delivering the mail and was modified 50+ years ago. This is a pic of it from ebay where it was sold.

So whomever said the person who modified it should be shot should pull his head out of his ass.

I hope in the future we can see more on this one ... I'd really like to see the chassis parts used.
Of course it isn't a "hot rod" ... it's a history lesson. History on the HAMB ... the reason I'm here for hours at a time !

You're right Shane T. I remember reading something about this one being a barn find built way back in the day by a farmer to get him to town in the winter.

It would of been cool to look out your window in 1947 while your snowed in from school and see this thing rolling along outside.. i'd be scared of it.. like Macaulay Culkin was scared of the salt spreader guy in home alone.. but he's really a nice guy.. go figure..

Sure not that I'd do that with a '34 tudor, but very interesting just the same.
Monster trucks present interesting engineering challenges and this one does look "old school". I wonder how much torque those spokes can take, enough?
Is there enough weight over the rear wheels?
