Technical v12 Lincoln ignition problem

As I said in the first post, I know the distributors need to be set on a machine and was sent to a rebuilder. New points, and shaft bushings were installed, the rotors were checked and found to be serviceable, one distributor needed the advance weights that was missing, and the points cam replaced due to heavy pitting, then they were set up on a distributor machine all this was done by the rebuilder. I have checked the firing order and confirmed the plug wires are on the correct cylinders. I'm sending the distributors out to another rebuilder. Thanks for the help.

 

Make sure you tell the distributor rebuilder the problem you are experiencing.

 

I already have a note in the box all packed up and ready to go tomorrow.

 

Initial advance should be 2º.

 

This is Rumbleseat’s instructions for a V8. I’d bet they are a good start for a V12 as well.

 

I know everyone’s running with the timing being the issue, and you’re probably right, but maybe disconnect the coil and see if it still acts funny with the ignition switch on. Could be some kind of issue with the starter relay? Just spit balling.

 

That's what I posted as well, but can't get an answer as to where he has the initial timing set.

 

Not a bad idea to verify it comes from the ignition.
