1959 Cadillac 4 door hardtop wagon


Hello,

In our long surfing road trips to various surf spots, we did see some odd ball forms of transportation. In the Los Angeles area coastline surf spots, some times we would see some different cars and station wagons. It must have been one of those “Mom, please take us to the County Line surf beach for some surfing…”

As most teenagers we knew, the transportation for surf trips were hanging on by a wire. Gas money was the big thing, but a good running old car was necessary, despite what it looked like. So, worn out Plymouth Station Wagons, old 4 door Chevy wagons, at first borrowed from “Mom,” then it became the kids’ car for ease of cost or hand me downs…

But, a 1959 Cadillac Station Wagon… not for daily driving for teenagers as Cadillacs and teenager cruising just did not go together. At least in our Long Beach/Bixby Knolls area it was a rarity if at all. But, in the Los Angles area coastlines running from Torrance/Manhattan Beach all the way to Pt. MUGU Rock, it was a possibility to see such an unusual car parked on the curb at the favorite spot, Los Angeles County Line Beach. Good waves and wide spread peaks, to keep the numbers down most of the time. And a nice sandy beach to relax between sessions.

Longboards on a 1959 Cadillac Station Wagon? Add in some pinstriped scallops and now, it is a real custom station wagon… Stranger things have happened in those popular surfing early days… and specific locations…YRMV

I went back through a bunch of my car t-shirt designs over the past 25 years, plucked out some of my favorite cars and arranged 'em in a 24 x 36 poster format. My son is printing a bunch out on heavy gloss paper stock. All of these are original "Lawless" art. I was just gonna do a few for myself and a couple family members, but some folks here locally have asked for copies and so, I have some for sale at $20 each (plus the ride). If'n your interested. That's just a few bucks above my cost.

The weather report says its going to be perfect down there tomorrow!
This will be my 3rd year to attend!
Early bird shopper gets the good stuff at the little swap meet section that they always have there!
The gates open at 7:00 AM and I will be there!
Its only a 2 hour drive from Seattle!
Update.
It was a great time with lots of interesting people and fantastic hot rods of all types!

1957 Pontiac Safari station wagon with 8 lug wheels.

Hello,

The 1957 Pontiac Safari Nomad Style Wagons look nice, but they needed their own brand of pick up truck conversions to keep up with the El Camino brands coming up fast.

If this were to be, the brand Pontiac would have had a two year jump on the Chevrolet models that took over the whole industry from landscapers to drag racing 4 speed, 325 hp 348 motors and 4:56 positraction to boot.

The extra added security of the solid bed cover would have increased the safe location of items to be stored under the lid. Motors for raising the security cover could be added and stored away in the little “foot well” compartment already in place for the rear p***enger feet locations. It even has a removable lid that matches the steel bed ribs…

The motorized hinge cover for the bed could be taken off if one wanted to use it for adding motorcycles of all kinds in the back. Or if loading taller than the bed sides, the cover could be removed.


But, to make thing so much better for Pontiac to reach out and stay in #1, 8 lug aluminum wheels would add a plus, to the overall look of any name given to the newest p***enger built pick up truck for GM. YRMV
