Pretty much done with my 30 Tudor AV8 build and preparing for my winter's project. A banger A Doodlebug tractor with chain drive. Gathered up some 16" wire wheels to mount up some 3 rib ag tires for the steers. One of them is what you see below. It's a Firestone 6.00x15 Safety Champion pie crust complete with a genuine Porta wall. Put a V8 hubcap on it and hang it on the wall and find another wheel?? Or break it down paint and use it as intended?
I'd say break it down. Put your rib tire on it and use it. Why bother painting the wheel? It's a doodlebug, and they got used and probably abused. Lynn
Usually by the time I'm willing to use a part as garage art, its too far gone to be used as an auto part. Therefore, one would have to be pretty desperate to need to break up the garage art to use the parts for actual auto use again.
sounds like it is not a spare at this point in time, so use it and if the tyre is not usable, then when you find another rim, use that for your garage art…….
