216 Chevy straight pipes?

I need to redo the exhaust is my 51 Styleline. I am really going back on forth.

The car is really low and my current gl***packs are hammered flat on the bottom. I LOVE the snap on decelleration. I was tol on Chevy Talk that I should go with 1.5" pipes. Would straight pipes be too loud? I like loud, but I do need **** from the cops. I could use the clearence that straight pipes would give.

I'd really like to hear from experience.

this is really old but , im wondering what you went with and how did it sound?

 

I have side pipes to the back of the rear doors with just a small motorcycle baffle tapped into the end.

it’s LOUD on accel, pops and bangs on decel, if you find the sweet spot on cruise it’s not terrible.

That’s what I wanted though and what I expected from a split header and two pretty much straight pipes. It has that fighter plane raspy buzz
