What did you drive in high school?

My first ride when I turned 16 in 1977 was this 55.1 Chevy pickup. My dad and I started building it when I was 14.( He did most of the building)Hahaa. Had a 69 model 350/350 combo, 64 Riv seats, shifter, and tilt column. It ended up in Michigan a few years later. I sure would like to find it if it’s still around.

 

A Honda xl100, then a pink and white 55 ford fairlane more door, at least it had gl***packs.

 

My Dad let me get a "65 Mustang (150 bucks) in 1976 when I turned 15 to keep me out of trouble. My buddy and I rebuilt the engine and fixed the rust and painted it. I drove thru high school and then sold it to buy a new one in 79.

 

I got a rusty 70 Chevelle Malibu, 350/TH350, in primer orange in 1997 when I was 15 and got rid of it months later for a much cleaner 70 Chevelle Malibu, 307/PG in faded Astro Blue and full hubcaps. I drove it until the 307 ****ped out, then had a crate 350 (87-95 truck TBI long block- Dad wouldn't let me get a performance anything) and 700R4 put in. Didn't do any of the big work ourselves since Dad's not a big car guy, and I didn't know what I was doing back then. Had the car repainted a 90s Ford color at some point before the engine swap. Graduated HS in 2000. I parked it for most of the time I was in college, then moved to a new city away from all my friends/support group, got busy with my grown-up job, and got in over my head with trying to rewire the thing with no help. Eventually I got a newer cleaner faster toy to park next to it. I should have sold it the day I got the other car (and should have sold the other car the day I got my old truck). Eventually sold it in 2011 when I needed to downsize to move in with my now wife. Not real proud of my failure to follow through on my big plans for it, but that's life, and not the worst possible way for it to turn out. I sure loved it and was proud of it when I drove it.
This picture was sometime in 2002 I think when I brought the car up to school in Nacogdoches, TX for a few weeks, and stopped at the abandoned drive-in in Lufkin, TX.

 

1964 Dodge 330 2-door sedan, originally a Poly/auto, converted it to 383 4-speed. So much fun to drive.
