Quite a show! Cars of the '40s were well represented.

We don't see near enough early trucks with bed side boards, at one time they were a staple on working trucks.

 

I wish I would have bought a house there back in the late 80's or 90's when you could still buy a house there. I'd probably still live there. It's a great little town.

 

I think the antique fairs and antique stores have petered out because the area is dominated with Oriental and Indian cultures now, they don't care about that stuff. When I moved out of Fremont 25 years ago I was the only white guy on the whole block.

 

Yes I miss Don too. He had pretty much every ba*****t and vacant lot filled with old car parts. And he knew where everything was. Went to see Don one time with a high school buddy that broke an axle in a stock 40 Chevy. Don't dump the clutch in a stock 40 Chevy. Anyway we walked in, told Don what we needed, he said I have one, $20.00. If you want it follow me. He jumped in his old tow truck, took us to a ba*****t a couple blocks over, we walked down some old unlit stairs, Don walks to the middle of a dark room, pulls a string and turns on a single light bulb. This place was packed. I don't know how he didn't trip over this stuff, says it's over there. Walks through all the stuff, gets the axle, comes back, says give me $20.00. We do, he hands us the axle, we go home and put it in.
