Attention seeking personalities to be sure. I know of another that started as a near mint '34 Pontiac sedan, and got butchered into a rat truck/Conestoga wagon. Tractor grill, Cow bells, train horn (overused) The owner takes great delight in parking next to well built cars, or expensive exotics, and how the crowds of the "unwashed" delight in it over actual quality. I agree with the thread's entertainment standpoint.

Other than the lack of chrome bumpers and grille I think it looks quite good.

 

And the headlights. But yeah, not the worst car in the thread

 

would be cool without the front bumper and goofy rectangle headlights

 

In an alternative timeline that might have been a thing, like a Gee Bee for the road. It's something I actually briefly played with:

That's saveable. The lights, grille opening, and bumpers need to be reworked.

 

I like the headlights also. It just needs some chrome to break up all the red.

Yep, sure does stick out against all that red fluff.
This showed up at a local show, a shoebox convert that's a real nice car, flathead powered and all. But something about the steering wheel in this one just looks out of place to me... maybe I'm being too picky?

 

As a person gets older, those back up camera screens become more important. The 50s side mirrors ****, and if you drive them, knowing what is near behind you when its time to back one up, those camera screens become pretty important.
As much as I hate what they do to the inside of the car, every vehicle we have has one.

Back in the 50s and 60s, building the modern convinces of the day were expected additions to the custom car community. Today everyone gets upset when the modern convinces show up.

I guess, in the custom world, just like in the hot rod world, everything is still supposed to be stuck in a time frame not many currently alive actually remember. We are suppose to be living in a time frame where everything is restricted to what was shown in a few popular picture collages from 75 years ago that were preselected for us. Those few popular picture colleges were pushed as being "traditional" and anything not represented in those few pictures is considered as "unusual" and are not accepted as anything that could have possibly been considered.

 

I have to be truthful about this one. Sometimes I look at it and say "cool", and other times I say "why" and other times it's just weird. I can understand some Chevy guys go nuts, but who knows. The workmanship is solid but the marriage of the front and back is suspect. You can make the call.

 

I think spreading the back of the hood out to match the cowl would make all the difference in the world, but I'm not smokin' what he was.

 

I remember the late 70s early 80s when this was somewhat popular in some places.

 

The good thing is that the Nomad could be fixed with a new front clip.
