So for his first post, he posts a gallon of black lacquer and a gallon of thinner, with no text or mention of why he posted the pictures. Very strange.

Back in 1999 I was able to source R&M Acrylic Black Lacquer at $125.00 per gallon. Now it's long gone, too bad because I grew up in the '60s painting my cars and also a number of cars for friends. I sprayed my 3W in the garage and it will be my last spray job. The new material is not conducive to garage paint jobs because of the physical danger and local restrictions.

Ever notice the similarity between the spelling of the words lacquer and liqueur? Yeah, me neither. Maybe one gets you painted and the other gets you plastered?

That reminds me of that line by Ron White about the difference in antidote and anecdote ….

I had a can of automotive lacquer sitting in my garage for must be 30 years. It had been previously opened so when I opened it again it was somewhat dried out. I added some lacquer thinner and was able to get it good enough to spray an old go cart body. So I guess the stuff never goes bad, does it?

I've got a can of acrylic enamel that I used to paint the 38 Chevy with in 1983, about five or six years ago I painted some interior pieces of the Studebaker with that same paint. It had been frozen more than once over the last forty years.
