Years ago a guy I know bought a 55 Chevy and brought it home and used one of these bumper jacks to lift up the rear of the car. While jacking it up he began to see that the bumper was going up but the car wasn't.

You guys must have been very well equipped when you were younger. I know I didn't have a floor jack or jackstands to do brakes or undercar work. Maybe a stack of cribbing for safety, but not much else. Bumper jack was the go-to lifting device. Gary
Doesn't really matter what type of car jack,even floor jacks(hydraulics can fail)...I always blocked under the axles. Just like other drivers on the road,I never trust a one of them.
