By the looks of the body and firewall, yes it’s a ‘32 Chevy, the ‘31’s had a visor. But what is throwing me is what appears to be suicide doors. I think I see a door handle at the front of the door and an upper hinge to the rear. @409 Bob looking at the photo from your perspective is that a hinge?
@gene-koning you should attend the Miller Meet at the Milwaukee Mile next July, you may see a Bugatti, one was there this year.
Wonder what these guys were thinking when they turned up for work every morning. Were they aware that they were working on cars that later would be seen as perfection or was it just a job for them.
You can bet those guys that worked there were a**** the best in their field. Back then, any job you did was important, everyone around you expected you to do your very best, everyday. I think probably most people working on stuff today would have never survived back then. I'm not so sure most of the people working today would have survived the expectations of a work place environment 50 years ago!
Bugatti! I got to see Duncan Pittaway's Type 35 up close. The thing looks like a custom built race car, yet it was a production car. I'm sure Ettore and his people had a lot of pride in what they did every day. The parts and pieces of those things look like jewelry. I was smitten immediately. When people say Bugatti today, most are talking about a modern supercar almost nobody can afford, but when I hear Bugatti I think of a pre war factory racecar that I can't afford!
Hello, As a 15 year old teenager without a driver’s license, I had to tag along to where my brother was wanting to go. When he mentioned a huge drag race two plus hours away from our house, I had doubts. Two hours plus in traffic to get there and then longer in thicker traffic coming home. No So Cal freeways to be seen on this trip. Lion’s Dragstrip was a few minutes away and always running the top racers in So Cal. So, there is that. But, he convinced me to tag along and take some movies of the pits and action. They turned out to be the one and only recorded films of the top racers in, not just So Cal, but the whole USA. So, in reading the list of traveling drag racers from all over the USA heading to So Cal was going to be one of a kind race day. I loaded up my film packs and camera for an all day filming extravaganza. I wished I had a notebook as the So Cal racers I knew from the action at Lion’s Dragstrip. But, the traveling racers were piling up at the gate and it was difficult to keep track. I had to remember who was from where and record as many races and time trials as possible. As it turned out, this is the only recorded film of that historic race in So Cal. With all of the professional photographers in attendance with their fancy 35mm cameras and movie cameras, where are those photos and movies? Jnaki The Hustler 2 made a good showing at Riverside. But for me, the best race of the day was this one with Cyr and Hopper A/FD vs the Colburn Glaze Compe***ion Coupe. Watch this race closely… power plus YRMV We all ducked and hid our faces as the dirt was flying everywhere... all for a drag race... ha!
Hello, Many years ago, my wife spotted a bright Tahitian Red painted old truck on a trailer that had just crossed our path. So, I fiddled with my digital camera and took a couple of quick shots as the truck pulled the old hot rod truck into a dense community entrance. We were on our way opposite of where they turned. But the truck looked very similar to the grey one above. I wished we could have taken more photos as the paint looked freshly painted and the truck looked pretty good from our own windows. Jnaki We have not seen that Tahitian Red truck since that time and wonder if it every got to the cruising point in its lifetime…YRMV This is the last shot we were able to get, while we both move away from each other, at 90 degree road crossings...
My model railroad and slot cars are always open! Lol. Actually considering selling my slot and train table tho. Kid doesn't use it any more, and I wouldn't mind making that room into my music room.... I'd miss it, but oh well.
