i am taking my 1964 cobra factory five racing cobra to the salt flats the first week of septenber to try the 150 mph club. several of my kids going along will be their first time on the salt. if you happen to see a red cobra, please come talk to me. see you on the salt!
Good luck. Make sure you have all your safety equipment in place. I don't know the requirement for the roll bar on an open car, but I would make sure if that. It's a blast!
Joined that club on the corn field lined back roads around me already, lol. Have fun, drive fast and take chances they say....
we did build a good roll cage. i have my fire suit, shoes helmet etc. front runner tires all the way around. ive been wanting to do this since i was 10, 70 years later, im doing it?
USFRA did a great thing when making the 130 and 150 mph clubs. It’s not as long of a course and safety is less than the SCTA formal rule book. They do frown on exceeding the speeds….
Metal stems and caps. Porsche made these valve stem supports. Good luck on your efforts. I've been 160 in a 427 Cobra (real one) on the front straight of Willow Springs. My GT1 car ticks off 170 with 650 hp on the same straight.
Before metal stems were made mandatory I used cut 1/4” fender washers held on with the metal caps to keep the rubber tube stems from bending at high speed.
