'50 Mercury centers get "slightly" narrower rims

 

I have an O/T ‘70 and used a 3”spring and 1” lowering block to get 4” drop. For a little softer ride. You might consider adding lowering blocks if it doesn’t settle.

 

That right there is some nice work!

 

Youre awefully close to frame notch territory with that drop. Going to look good though!

Today I added the polished pieces to get from the headers to the turbos. Next trip to the garage I'm mounting up turbos

Thank you to every one for the tips on the tube bending . I need lots at this time . TIG welded brackets for a Bud , hanging barn doors yesterday , raining here for a couple days now .

 

Think it's goin to stay plain. .should be easier to maintain the finish, I plan on driving the **** out of it.

 

Dropped the tank out of the G.P. today, the sending unit was leaking and the tank needs to be stripped and cleared to look proper. Love working on stuff that is super clean! Even the little screws and nuts that had been on there for 60 plus years broke loose with no issue.

Put a whole new meaning to “ keep the shiny side up”

 

Be careful picking up someone else's "mid-project, need to sell for cash infusion for other projects"!! The "few items to p*** VA inspection" have turned into a re-wire, new exhaust system, going to need re-plumbing on the power brake upgrade he did..... My OCD kicked in on fixing one thing and seeing three other things that I can't let go. Because later I'll have to undo, what I just fixed, to fix the other thing.

It is amazing how going into the garage and swearing, sweating, becoming poorer, and walking out later still make you feel better....

Wired on the Corvette wiring this evening. I still have to move the alternator to the driver side of the engine. I have to wire up the starter. I need to put new collector gaskets on. I have to fix the steering column wiring. There are a couple of wires out of the plug. I am hoping to drive it this week. I need to get some miles on it before Lloydfest.

 

Like McCleod clutches but never had one of the hydraulic TO bearings that didn’t leak after sitting a while. Ram and Howes never leaked!

 

What fluid did you use?

 

S****ping the under cab mounted master cylinder for a firewall mounted one. As I get older (and more broken) I find crawling under vehicles to do simple tasks less fun.

 

Post some more pictures! I had a 64 grand prix about 25 years ago, i just found some a few parts that I had kept (clock & a couple of fender badges).
I toy with the idea of trying to find another one

Finally got the steering column and parts painted for my 1950 Ford coupe. It's been slow going but I managed to keep plugging away at it. Trying to get it all back together from mounting the rebuilt steering box to the Crestliner steering wheel I also restored by end of Thursday.

I really need to get gl***es! I just noticed the SMALL dent in the top of the cab!

 

Got the column tube and shifter back together today and put anther coat of paint on the steering wheel. Tomorrow installing it all back in the car (Hopefully). I haven't been able to drive it yet this year.

 

It's been a quite a few months since I've posted on here but I am now back on a on top of the car and it is moving right along although a little a little further behind than where I was hoping to be I am still making "Ford" (see what I did there) progress, I got the back window in earlier today, I had never done that task not real hard I am by far from an expert but it wasn't bad. I also had to remake all the wood around the rear window because of course what little bit was left was absolutely rotten, I gave the car a SOS scrub to get all the rust off since my last post but I'm not removing all of its so-called patina because I am tired of perpetual projects I just want to get this one up and driving and have fun. So I got the hood mounted, the body is completely mounted, the gas tank is completely mounted and cleaned out with a fresh gas gauge in it, I got about half of the electrical done (hopefully I will have it all done here in about a week it's been over a hundred and I have no shade on the side of my house so it's pretty brutal short of an easy up so I just cook out there. I've been buying all kinds of odds and ends for the car CW Moss and the Ford store in San Dimas probably love me. I also bought the lower window garnish molding for the rear widows on eBay and I managed to find the driver side upper garnish molding for the side window.
Now I got to find the pieces that go on top of the doors, the part you grab to close the doors (I was going to buy these reproduction but everyone has been out of stock on them probably 2 years).
I did however get the front windshield installed and the piece of wood for the header panel and the visor and I think I am going to weld in those pieces that go above the door I don't know what they are technically called but welding them in seems easiest and probably the strongest.
I got to find the rain gutter pieces next because the car has to have rain gutters I don't care if they function or leak or anything like that but I can't have those open holes and I'm not going to fill it because personal opinion not looks terrible.

Hopefully in the next few days I will have some better pictures, I am pretty bad at do***enting my work I took this before I came in this evening I was done sweating. The picture in the daylight was taken on August 8th it don't look much different but it's definitely moving along.
