i'm in need of some complete rockers (inner and outer with floor brace ends)for the 47 Chevy coupe. i've been doing some research on the subject and searched many old posts here on the HAMB for answers. so far i've learned the majority of people have not been too thrilled with the fit of EMS panels while a couple people had no problems with their stuff.

granted these particular parts (that i need) are'nt anything overly complicated so maybe i'd get lucky and they would fit fine. i'd make them myself but i've repaired so much friggin rust on this car that i'm having a real hard time staying excited about the project. doing the occasional "kustom" body mod is the only thing keeping me going on it. i'm excited to get it done but it's a long rough road with all the rust in this car. on the up side, it'll be a damn solid car when i'm done with it. it sure as hell won't have holes stuffed with newspaper and Bondo anymore.

so. i'm interested in hearing who makes sheetmetal parts for these cars and who has had what experiences with them. good or bad lets hear em. and be specific as to what the problem was if you have a complaint. i don't expect the parts to install themselves (though for the prices i've seen so far they should) but if i have to do too much work i may just as well build the damn parts myself.

hey what's up? I'll just stay out of this one. you know who should be here any minute giving you a web address and phone number for the best parts.

post some pics both in and out of what you are up against. maybe I can help. I'll PM to avoid controversy.

I found this guy the other day:
    http://www.cl***icfabrication.com/

He unexpectedly came up while searching for '59/'60 Cadillac body parts. I didn't expect to find anything, but lo and behold, he came up.

He has lots of other good stuff that nobody else makes. They may not fit your application, but HAMBers should know about him.

The quality and fit will depend as much on "where" they're made as "how" they're made. What you WILL find is that many of these parts are "import quality" which in garage vernacular means junk. While some stuff may be made on original dies the metal thickness and decades of wear add up to **** fit and nasty welds.

Synical response? No. My opinion is based on over 20yrs of doin this ****. Sometimes it's worth the aggrevation, sometimes not. I noticed different levels of price and apparently quality from www.chevsofthe40s.com . They mark some stuff as "superior" but after buying the best (Goodmark) 1/4 panels for a 65 GTO last summer only to find it was nearly $200 more from them for the same panel I bought from a generic wearhouse, buyer beware most certainly applies. So back to you original ?s, ask if they have a return policy, and give it a try. Rocker panels are pretty important to the rest of the car. They hold doors in line, set floor hgt, and pretty much establish the whole ****in profile of the car. Figuring that you need the bracing as well, maybe repop would be a good pattern to "borrow" from if you decide to go with your own. And I'm with you bro...rust ****in ****s!
