Got to check out the air set up today. 350 CFM screw compressor, huge tank and refrigerated dryer.
There are 2 of these setups powering the shops.

The engineer discussed adding a small refrigerated dryer at the booth.

That’s a lot of air and refrigerated driers work well. If you want very clean dry air look into a molecular sieve type, uses desiccant and switches beds, one bed absorbs water while the other is heated to drive H2O out.

The GFS booth people are setting up the air filtration. But the engineer and booth guy are considering adding a small dryer at the booth. The concern would be any condensation from the distance to the booth. Probably 300 ft from the compressor.
There’s a tripple filtration set up for the breathing air/spraying air on each side of the booth.

 

Dang, I don’t know how I missed all this stuff about the new digs. That’s awesome. Great for the students. Great for you.

 

We have the type of dryer Sharpone is talking about, at my workplace. No refrigeration needed, and the dewpoint of the air coming out is ridiculously low, something like minus 60 degrees. So no worry about condensation fifty feet, five hundred feet away or anywhere!

 

Wow there is some serious kit going into this!!

Not a concern for you though! enjoy sir, from my limited experience having that high level of equipment and resources really helps to keep the trainees engaged which means you can focus of giving the best quality of training possible.

 

That is some seriously sweet new digs Anthony! I'll bet the auto body & mechanical cl*** enrollment is gonna skyrocket! State of the art chit right there, and the right headmaster at the helm! Go man!

 

Man, talk about a kid in a candy store and I don't mean the students! All said and done, it's all about the Instructors/Teachers. I don't remember much of "HIGH" school, but I remember my auto mechanics teacher Mr. Foley in 1978 (10th grade). He taught me a lot and said you can p*** anything with a 4-barrel but a gas station! That has always stuck with me. LOL.

 

That McPherson college of automotive restoration out in Kansas, which is a very cool facility, has a rival now in the element of being serious about having the correct environment to teach kids about the fine art of metal working and a variety of other skills as well!

Good to hear that the instructors and the local industry are involved in the designing of the shop and cl*** rooms . To many times Agroup of people how have no clue about a trade being taught dictates how the money is spent.

 

Return on investment.
That’s a great question.
The 2 major players are the biggest companies in our area. The main one operates mostly in South America now. The owners/family lives here where they started out in the mining industry.
Their return will probably be minimal $$$$ wise. Tax breaks? I hope so
Positive PR? I’m sure that is a consideration.
It seems to be more of a namesake or monument to the founder.
The local powers that be see it as an investment for attracting future businesses.
The new school is located in our industrial park very close to I22. I’m sure potential companies and investors will be visiting our facility regularly.

 

All this makes me wonder why I never took auto body or auto mechanics in high school. I’m pretty sure they had cl***es, and I was into cars as a teen. Lol!
Seems like a no-expense spared endeavour which is nice to see for future generations.
