Customs found a you tube video on my Futurian bubbletop

Nice that it gets some ink (light?), but the whole thing feels AI.

 

I hate those stupid AI voices……

 

The comments from the experts telling you how you should have done it crack me up. I'd like to see what's in there garage.

Funny he shows me sitting in my Mysterion repro in your video. that is actually the only time I sat in it! Then note the little avatar of the Mysterion at the bottom of your video. That is the guy's tribute to me and building my Mysterion, but . . . . . every photo of the car that he attributes to me was of Dave Shuten's version. Didn't have one photo of my car!!!

 

If they made the videos without your knowledge or involvement, it seems like they're trying to make money off the fruits of your labor.

 

No biggie. If that's the worst that happens in my life, it was a good life!! And he is using photos that are out on the web so free access?

To a great degree you're right in your ***umption. At least when the materials are used for non-commercial or editorial purposes.

If used in a video like this which I'm guessing is monetized that isn't always the case. It's probably OK as long as the material has no declared copyright, has an expired copyright, or is considered to be in the public domain. Otherwise the "content creator" (Gawd, I hate that term!) should buy a license for usage or seek permission from the copyright holder. He'll probably decide to use material that doesn't have clear copyright markings. Or less likely he'll maybe create his own original content.

But trying to enforce copyright after the fact may not be worth the effort. You'll have to provide proof of ownership of your material. You'll have to determine a fair value for its usage. And even if you were to receive a small percentage of its earnings it likely still won't add up to much. It's my understanding that videos of this type may only earn like $.05 to $.15 or less per 1,000 views. And views don't get counted if the video is clicked off early, the viewer clicks thru the ads, or uses an ad-blocker with their browser.

The value of the clicks may also depend on the number of subscribers to a particular channel. Youtube certainly has their interests covered.

 

Well .I'm exempt 'cause the guy used all Dave Shuten's photos when talking about my Mysterion. Guess I can sue for using my photo in Mark's video.

 

I wanted on for sure but no way could I afford it. I made my own using an old vacuum motor on suction and building a wooden vac box. Sort of worked. But I didn't use vacuum for any of my bubble tops.
I made the tops for these two Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild cars using the method suggested by GM in their guide book given to Guildsmen. They recommenced heating and stretching 1/16" Plexigl*** over wooden patterns. I did it that way (carved the tops on the dual pod car and cut off the wood window form. Can't remember how I cut them off that model!), but they required a LOT of sanding and polishing due to the imperfect wood mold printing on them.



I made the tops by blowing them, not stretching or vacuum forming them on both the 1:1 and model Mysterion. For the big car I found a company in Los Angeles that made bubble formed advertising signs. They advised on how to make my for, out of 2x4s. To blow the top, the heated a big sheet of 1/4" in an oven, pulled it out and laid it on the bed of a big hydraulic press covered in cloth, Pressed my form down on the hot plastic then blew air underneath for a perfect result. I blew two on that day, one to use in building the bode and one for ther final build.

On the model, I made the form shown, clamped a piece of Plexi with the screws, heated in the oven at 340F 'til it sagged, pulled it out of the oven shoved a rubber hose on the tube sticking out and literally blew it to shape. Was so much fun I blew 4 or 5!!

 

yes, AI is modifying the way that the world is seen. but, hopefully will inspire younger people to be aware of early cars built.

 

Many of us build ground up hot rods but some take it to another level of art form. I don't have that gift. Back about 2019, my son called me, all excited. Someone had copied all the pics from a an almost 80 page build thread on protouring. com and compiled a 45 minute video with what I thought was poor taste in music. I was surprised that someone would do that much work. He thought they wrote a script that did all of the work. The website is one seems to have been bought up by roadkill. Before the video was moved, it had 1.6 million views. I didn't care about them using the pics. Maybe somebody got a question answered by looking at the build pics. When my son found it, there was 300,000 views.

 

The only thing that looked AI was the pictures from Mark's Futurian build. I've seen videos of Mark's garage / house and every square inch is covered in cars and memorabilia and never messy. Had to be AI

***ume I know nothing about AI (FANTASTIC ***UMPTION!!!). Did AI create the narrative and stream the photos in automatically? If so, it's a decent job. And why would someone go to the trouble of doing this in AI in the first place? Inquiring mind want to know!
