WEBSITE UPDATE AND SPECIAL TRJ CONTEST!

Win long out of print TRJ Issues #1 - 4! Details below. . .

Greetings to all Rodder’s Journal readers and we want to wish all those in the United States a happy Labor Day Weekend.

We hope you’ve all been enjoying a great summer of hot rodding with your families and friends. We’ve been hard at work on a number of different projects here at The Rodder’s Journal and wanted to share an update.

Over the summer we’ve caught up on shipping, sending out thousands of packages and magazines. This includes new and outstanding orders as well as replacement shipments of orders that did not originally make it to their destination. There are, however, a few straggler orders that will continue to need our attention. We’ve also added some part-time staffers who are helping to ship orders and keep the wheels turning in our office. We’re still behind on customer service emails, but we’re making progress while also working hard to produce TRJ #88 and plan to ship it to subscribers before the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted.

Check out our new and improved website. www.roddersjournal.com

Today we are announcing the relaunch of our website. We have added a whole bunch of product to the site that is now in stock and ready for shipment. This includes subscriptions, back-issues, our latest issue, apparel and more.

Please check back frequently, as we plan to continue to make refinements and additions to our website on a regular basis. Most of the additions are familiar products to long time Rodder’s Journal readers, TRJ staples if you will. We want to again offer the items that have been most popular over the years. To be perfectly honest we don’t have the time or resources to devote to developing new merchandise and apparel at this time.

As mentioned, we’re excited to say we have added a couple of part-time members to our staff to help us increase our infrastructure capacities in general. We plan to continue to add to our office capabilities. Our goal is to increase our abilities to answer customer service emails in a timely fashion and to eventually offer customer service by phone, but it will take us some time to reach these goals.

We have had quite a few people ask how they can best support The Rodder’s Journal and perhaps the best way is to take a look at our relaunched website and place an order for a product or two if you see fit.

We are extremely grateful for those who have asked how they can best support TRJ, but more than that we are even more grateful for the support we have received from all of our readers over all the years that we have been in publication.

One lucky reader will win a very special Library Combo including a Slipcase and TRJ issues #1 - 4

To hopefully show a bit of our gra***ude and bring a bit of fun to our website relaunch we are holding a contest that we hope will pique your interest. We are going to give away a very special library combo. Library combos are a product that we hope to have back on our website soon, but this giveaway library combo is very special indeed. It includes one slipcase as well as issues TRJ #1 - 4. We haven't had these first-four issues available in decades but we have pulled them from our private collection.

Everyone who places an order on our website between now and next Friday will automatically be entered to win this very special library combo.

Thank you again for your support. We simply want to improve the website, offer time tested Rodder’s Journal staples and then get back to what we feel we do best, which is making the very best magazine about traditional hot rodding and custom cars that we can.

    With the greatest appreciation,

    Steve ****an

@5window Thanks for posting! I don't receive their email; my contact on file is probably from 3 houses and decades ago. No point clogging up the staff there with trying to update when they have so much to do and someone here usually posts them anyway.
I sure hope the communication does improve. Nobody really questions the product. I do look forward to another issue.

Me too, and ordered a couple of new t-shirts. My old ones were getting pretty thin after all these years.

To be honest, with TRJ's reputation. I'd be a little leery wear one of their products...would be like wearing a Hoffman Group t-shirt.

I sure hope they ship that merch quicker than the magazines. Im surprised they havent focused all their efforts on the latter and responding to comms rather than new websites and merch. Stating that it could be another 4 months for some mags to reach subscribers doesnt sound right to me but I dont have skin in the game.

    Good luck fellas.

I have every issue starting with #9. I periodically look around to see if I can find the first eight for a reasonable price but I don't think it will ever happen.

Producing and mailing out existing orders that have been prepaid will deplete the bank balance.
Taking payments for new orders of magazine editions and/or merchandise increases the bank balance.
Forgive me if I show caution and a little pessimism, but I do hope all who place new orders have a happy ending.
I would love to see TRJ turn the situation around and get their **** together.

I cant see anyway out of the current situation for the owners if they dont make substantial change. The original offer of a lifetime subscription was incredibly silly and a path to financial ruin.

This merch is only a bandaid and thats if the items are actually supplied. Based on how they have been going in the last few years thats far from a given.

Ive said this before but the only way I can see these guys surviving is they have to jettison the lifetime subscriptions. Yeah that ****s if you are one of the guys that bought those but most would think they already have got their value and hopefully can see the greater good. After that they need to come up with a viable annual subscription program and hopefully some sales in retail outlets. Only doing something like that will their cash flow issues be resolved going forward.

Like everyone here Id love to see them survive, the latest actions though just look like a last gasp to generate cash. Which by the sounds of it is needed to get the latest issue out. That begs the question, how do they pay for 89?

I have no idea what the percentage is of lifetime subs, but if it is anything over say 30% it is a drag on continued profitability.

The people that are still reporting no #87 is @catdad49 and @***Area-51***. Not good, especially for them, but much better than previously. They are the reason I haven't contacted TRJ. They need to reach out and be first priority.

do an ebay search for Rodders Journal and "save it" and you will get an email every day with any new issues. then you can snag the cheaper ones when they pop up

I discovered TRJ on a long ago visit to the Peterson. I bought issues 3 and 4 there and subscribed. When the lifetime subscription came out I jumped on it. Absolutely no regrets to this day. Through a fellow H.A.M.B.er I was able to get issues 1&2. A full set is on my magazine rack in my shop, nearly all of them in their original jackets. And I’m damn proud of them. I can understand the frustration and ill feelings some of you have towards TRJ, but I think that horse has been beat to death on here. Pyramid scheme or not, I’m going to do all I can to help them survive. ****, I’ve wasted more money on poor car and parts buys that I’ve had to unload for pennies on the dollar, than I’ve ever spent to support TRJ. But that’s nobody’s fault but my own. And as far as print goes, there’s no equal to them, and IMHO, never has been, for overall quality and value. I fully believe I’ve got my money’s worth from TRJ, in both value and satisfaction from their products. I wish them well, and support their continued survival.

If they were to do this I believe it is a certainty that one or more of those lifetime subscribers would take some form of legal action against them, which would likely be the coup de grâce for the wounded Jalopy Journal.
