I don't drink coffee, but I think it was 10 cents a cup a few months ago when we were there. They were pushing a free cup of ice water then. I didn't drink one of those either.

We were at Wall Drug four years ago on a cross country road trip. It was a nickel then. I guess inflation hits everywhere.
I got a cup just to do it.

On the way to a show at Lolo Hotsprings....got there and it was cancelled. Oh well, took a drive and ran into about 20 other cars and trucks that didn't get the memo either.....

Last few weekends worth of driving all over the state. Build them to sit in traffic!

Close out the month with a little shakedown run up to visit the skunk.
Had to put in a new speedo as the last one **** the bed (on the 16th).
Hopefully this one lasts as they are getting hard to find.

Drove to the last big show of the year, 45 degrees and absolutely pouring rain on the way back.

Cool Merc! And ya, that's the thing about our old cars - they don't melt in the rain! ;)
I've posted in this thread way back when, maybe time for an update. Finally got the old Chevy II operating, took a spin around the neighborhood for the first time in years. Felt pretty good.

This is a still shot from video:

Back on the road. Finally got time to pull the engine and reseal the pan. I also dropped in a new aluminum radiator and an electronic ignition distributor, got rid of the blown out gl***packs and installed some mufflers. The ol' truck is running and sounding great.

Last minute change of plans had me fire up the Tudor for the trip.
Was to be a shakedown run for the roadster, but forecast spooked me.
Good thing….wasn’t really roadster weather into or through the mountains.
    Moist.

Lookin out my hotel window at how much cleaning is needing to happen before the show on Saturday. Insert sad face here. :(

Edit: oops..photobombed the bacon thread last night before going to pub. In my defence…I did kinda stumble back to the hotel last night.

2 questions: do the wipers work and is all the mist on the windscreen from the tires?

answers: yup, wiper does work but when I’m at speed the rainx works ok. And the mist is rain hittin the rainx. Some mist off the vehicles in front, but mostly just plain ol rain.

    Hello,

In So Cal , it isn’t all nice paint, custom wheels and a low stance or rake stance. Sometimes, it is just a daily driver that gets one to work and back. But, it has the bones to a good future, if one wanted it to be such a cruiser.

So Cal has plenty of old solid side vans and window vans from the early 60s still rolling around. This one is ready for a makeover, for sure. But, it does its job of getting to and from a business. YRMV

When the Econoline vans came on the scene, it was fun to draw those window vans in all sorts of designs.

As they came out to the public in the early 60s, A friend had a simple light blue color window van for his job and surf adventures.
upload_2026-9-12_3-35-2.png He had a perfect job for a 20 something surfer. Drive a van that ran well and was a rolling adverti*****t for his business. Inside his van, he had sleeping, eating and dining areas built in custom sizes. But over in the corner, was his display of his job, Frantz Oil Filters.

After the morning surf session, he opened his van that was parked in one of the best spots at the Huntington Beach Pier. His display was front and center and anyone who walked by had a great view of the whole oil system in his van. His job paid for many trips to Baja Mexico…

Over the long haul, we have seen various different Econoline trucks from the Ford factory.
    upload_2026-9-12_3-43-10.png

A modified pick up version was from the design desk project.

A custom cruiser van for all kinds of road trips:

And during our Gas Coupe engine building days, perhaps an Econoline Truck with a drop down rear door ramp to make loading easier…
