Ever sold a car that you regret selling?

Yes! The year was 1959, I just graduated. Was hanging out at my friend's junkyard and see he just bought a '40 Chevy coupe, all original, runs great looks nice. I sez hey I want that car and he sez OK give me 15 bucks. Done deal. Drove it for a while. A guy offers to trade straight across for a model A coupe with a flatty. I'm a hot rod fan so it's a no brainer. Looking back, I sure do wish I had kept the pristine Chevy rather than a clapped out Ford. I'd LOVE to have a '40 Chevy coupe today.

 

Yes I have, I sold the one in my avatar to help my mom when she was fighting cancer, sadly it didn't help as much as I wish it would have, several years later I was able to buy the car back from my friends widow, he also suc***bed to cancer.



The list is long but the number one regret is selling my '32 pickup. HRP

The cars I sold for money, I regret...the ones I wanted out of my life, I don't.

 

My 62 Corvette, every piece on it was NOS back when you could still get them from your Chevy dealer. I bought the car for 2grand and did a body off the ch***is build. Tis picture is in Flagstaff AZ at a house I built. we moved back to NY and sold it within 3 months of me living in the new/old house for $8500.00 I test drove it for the buyer 1 mile. Second picture (white in garage) is when I brought it home. I was still in M***achusetts 5 years ago. I went to see it and maybe buy it back but he was not selling.

My BMW 2002. It was all my ex-girlfriend's fault. After we broke up I was in the position where the thing for me to do would have been to go to Africa if I weren't in Africa already, so I went elsewhere.

Hindsight being 20/20 I wish I had both my first and second cars. The first was a '29 Model A standard coupe that I rebuilt and restored as much as I could at 19-20 years old. The second was a '64 Barracuda, 273 two-barrel automatic, white with gold interior. I sold it so I could buy a '64 Jaguar drophead that was horribly, thoroughly thrashed. I rebuilt the Jag's engine, transmission and brakes but the top end kept starving for oil. Both the Model A and Barracuda were wonderfully reliable. It's owner, not so much.

I've never regretted selling any particular car.
But I have regretted selling cars to unreasonable idiots that haunt me over trivial ********.

The cheaper the item, the more unreasonable the expectations of the buyer is .....
Used parts are worse.

 

Have you been able to keep track of where the pickup resides? It has always been one of my favourites. Just right.

 

I've had a little seller's remorse over my '63 BelAir Wagon, but I needed to make room for other projects. A '65 Malibu conv., but sold it to my bro, so it's OK. And it's really nice now. There are 2 that I REALLY shouldn't have sold: '56 Chev 2dr sedan ex-g***er. Blue/white, fibergl*** '57 front, radiused rear wheel wells, A-arm front, "SATISFACTION" painted down the sides. It was cool. And the biggest regret: 1970 Javelin. Dual AFBs on a 307 Chevy/Powerglide, Camaro fender flares on the back to cover the 10" wide wheels, trunk lid spoiler, roof spoiler, factory "power blister" hood, side pipes, white w/ pink pearl & Panther Pink, Plum Crazy Purple & Mood Indigo graphics. Even had a pistol grip shifter out of a '70 Road Runner working the 2-speed. It looked the '70's regurgitated it in the mid '80s. I miss that car.

only one I regret selling was my 64 California Nova hardtop with factory 283/four speed trans...

 

I sold it to a gentleman in Dripping Springs, Texas and as far as I know he still has it, I saw a photo of the truck at the Lone Star Roundup a few years ago but nothing since then. HRP

 

Two I regret were a ‘50 Dodge Coronado club coupe that I traded for a ‘23 T with a 283. Sold the T because I thought I needed something with more room…

 

Almost every single car I have owned!

 

Sold this car to Darryl Hollenback and then bought it back after he installed a new engine, transmission, radiator and upholstery.
I bought it back for the same selling price.
Could not justify selling it.
