Projects 37 coupe V8-60 to Hemi build

Man, I’m just catching up, reading the entire thread just now. (Where have I been, right?). Anyway, I really like the way you think. Your fabrication skills are top notch. That lil Hemi looks like it was born in there. Great job. Ron

 

Definately thought about something along these lines where you get to see the motor but it doesnt look "Unfinished". I'll have to drive this thing a bit to get a feel for where I think it should go. Love the art work on it so I can see exactly what your talking about, it definately helps.

 

I really appreciate all the kind comments, I drove the car for 2 years with the V8-60 and loved everything about it including that little motor... It just didnt have what I would call a Hot Rod at***ude. Going to different shows, seeing builds on here and reading my old magazines put something in my head that said "If you can find a hemi and make it look like it belongs in this car it just might be a forever car and is worth tackling". While they are never done I think I'm about 90% there with this one so I'm excited to discover how the other 10% will turn out.

I've got about 1.5 months left of driving it for this year before the snow comes so It's time to put some miles on it and get to know it some more. Hope to see some of you at the Gathering at the ROC.

 

Man, I don't comment here often, but in my eye the engine compartment looks exactly like a hot rod. If you want to make it a little better, details and honest appearance of usefulness go a lot better than a goofy cover on the firewall. If you want it to verge into the custom side of things just upholster it and stand back. Upchuck isn't nice to stand in.

 

I don’t hate the firewall end of it, it’s the grill to hood area to me that looks unfinished:

 

How about a small close out panel about 2” wide that follows the contour of the rear edge of the grille? Painted black, it would make that little area look finished, but not draw your eye to it. Just a thought.

 

It's definately worth some time this winter. Anything to break up that spot would be a plus in my opinion. Who knows until I sit down with a cold beer and my CAD (Cardboard aided design) so I can get a good look at it.

 

Just went through the complete swap and it is a killer job.

 

Only 300 hp. Considering how much power the little flatty 60 made. It will feel like a rocket comparing the two engines.

I reckon if you painted the little bit with the screws in body colour you’d not notice it anymore.
