Yesterday the new clutch disc came in the mail that a fellow hamber graciously sent me and I tore down to the shop after work today to install the clutch and stab the engine in. Hub on the clutch is too small, dang back to the drawing board.

At this point would it maybe seem a better route to machine the trans side to make a more common clutch disc fit?

Screenshot_20260825_203124_Chrome.jpg Well I found the first good use for the A/I computer; searching rockauto for parts by spec. I found a 1982 4cyl camaro clutch disc. It's 1/8" larger in diameter than I need but the right hub. I figure I can chuck it up in the lathe and grind off some or just run it with some sticking out.

Clutch disc saga continues. The disc I ordered had the wrong hub I miss read my measurement as 1 1/8" when I really needed a 1 1/4" hub. After some help from a other hamber I found a triumph stag used the disc I need. Ordered one from Moss Motors last week only to check on it today and find my payment never went through. Maybe next week I can make some progress.
In other news did some DIY screen printing for some club shirts and rags.

Worked on mounting the fuel tank late into the night only to be unhappy with how high is would sit and left it. Came back today and looked at how it was sitting and I think I will weld my saddle mounts directly to the cross bars I put in. This keeps it low slung but dang all that time making the saddles and I never thought of this as an option. Always chuckle when the solution is staring you right in the face.

Holy smokes I never thought it would happen the weird 9" clutch disc finally arrived today. Boxed as a AP clutch the disc is marked borg and beck.

So did this latest clutch fit the bill? And if so what’s it supposed to be for?

Havent had a chance to bolt it up but it fits on the trans splines and measures 9" across. I ordered it from Moss Motors it was the clutch used on Triumph Stag motor cars

Had what seems like a rare free day anymore and chugged away at the roadster water outlets and marrying the trans to engine.

Turned two water outlets from .125 wall tubing and lopped off the existing undersized spigots in preparation for welding.

Install of the clutch was okay although the input shaft needed polished to accept the pilot bearing. This was possible using red scotch Brite pad inserted into a deeper socket ran at speed on an impact. The Mac clutch alignment tool worked well for getting everything centered up.
Engine and transmission install went relatively smoothly other than needing to move the front motor mounts forward around 1/4-5/16" which was accomplished by slotting the frame holes giving the mounts the needed adjustment. Glad I went with a bolt on mount rather than welding, not sure where the misalignment came from as it bolted together fine in mockup?

Once the engine and transmission where inplace I was sure the shifter would interfere with the dash, too tall and too far forward but with some stroke of luck the shifter ended up in a pleasing location with no need for modification at this time.

Played dress up with intake, radiator and hoses making sure everything was still working together with the engine moved forward and called it a wrap for the day.
