Projects “TOXICI-T!” The Atomic Age Show Rod

Added a small Private Roentgen to the back to even it out a little. I feel like it ties everything together and explains the tag more. We’ve just been driving it and enjoying it. I really love this car and what we’ve made with it. The story is spreading.

“TOXICI-T!”
A One-of-One Atomic Age Experimental Show Rod

Some hot rods are built to be fast.

Some are built to be beautiful.

“TOXICI-T!” was built to tell a story.

Inspired by the experimental show rods of the early 1960s, “TOXICI-T!” is a one-of-one concept built around a simple question:

What if a talented hot rodder had built an Atomic Age experimental T-bucket in 1962–63, shown it for a few seasons, and somehow it survived to today?

Every modification on the car supports that idea.

Rather than chasing perfection, the goal was authenticity—not as a restored historical car, but as a believable “lost” show rod from one of hot rodding’s most creative periods.

The result is a car that consistently stops people in their tracks. At its public debut, enthusiasts spent as much time discovering the hidden details as they did admiring the overall build. The experience was exactly what the project was intended to create.

The Build
The foundation remains unmistakably traditional, while the styling reflects the optimism, experimentation, and imagination of the early Space Race and Atomic Age.

Highlights include:

* Metallic green body with coordinated purple accents
* Hilborn-style induction scoop
* Hand-painted Roth-inspired pinstriping
* Hand-painted Ford script on the cowl
* Purple-tinted windshield inspired by experimental safety gl*** concepts
* Four 1959 Cadillac taillights
* Blacked-out radiator for a more purposeful presentation
* Purple **** carpeting and rear deck covering
* Traditional wheels and whitewall tires maintaining cl***ic proportions

Hidden Details
“TOXICI-T!” rewards people who slow down and look.

Throughout the car are numerous hidden details and period-inspired touches:

* Dymo-style embossed labels
* “SCRAM” secondary ignition kill switch
* Atomic warning decals
* Period laboratory-style identification tags
* Vintage-style warning labels
* Hand-painted graphics
* Countless small details that support the overall narrative without overwhelming the car

The goal was never novelty.

It was immersion.

Functional Art
One of the signature features is the coolant overflow system.

Rather than using a modern plastic overflow bottle, the system uses an antique Boston Burnett purple gl*** medicine bottle filled with bright green coolant.

It isn’t simply decorative—it is fully functional and connected directly to the cooling system.

It has become one of the most photographed details on the entire car.

Built Like It Has History
Unlike many freshly restored customs, “TOXICI-T!” intentionally retains subtle signs of age.

Minor imperfections in original trim, light chrome pitting, and honest wear in portions of the interior help create the impression that the car was built decades ago, enjoyed, and carefully preserved rather than over-restored.

Nothing feels artificial.

It simply feels like it has a past.

The Story
Within the fictional world created around the car, “TOXICI-T!” was built by Private Roentgen, an infantryman forever changed by exposure during a cl***ified Atomic Age weapons test.

Rejecting conformity and embracing experimentation, he transforms a humble Ford T into a rolling laboratory—part hot rod, part science project, and part protest against the age that created him.

Whether visitors choose to embrace that backstory or simply enjoy the craftsmanship, it gives the car a personality unlike any other traditional hot rod.

The build was extensively do***ented from concept through completion, including:

* Final reveal
* Public debut at Hot Rod Revival in ***ming, Georgia

Every stage of the project has been preserved, giving the next owner the complete history of the car’s creation.

One of One
“TOXICI-T!” was never intended to copy another famous show rod.

It was designed as an original concept that feels as though it belongs in hot rod history.

It is a conversation piece, a show car, a driver, and a rolling work of imagination.

There is only one.

“TOXICI-T!” isn’t just a hot rod—it’s a believable piece of alternate hot rod history, built with the craftsmanship, imagination, and spirit that defined the Atomic Age.

It needs white pearl interior and a **** ton of chrome...but you didn't ask for my opinion. So, I'll just say I like it, far f*n out! and worthy of admiration. Now drive the hell out of it!

 

I like his overflow bottle. The gl*** wouldn't p*** tech at the Monterey Historics so my Track T got a 1920s ****tail shaker.
