Got the rear wheel cylinders replaced this morning. Got to wait 'til tomorrow when Alyn is off to bleed them. Then, on to Lloydfest IV.

 

Finally wired in the additional bumper lights on my 51.

Might help to stop some zombie in a Chinese appliance from running into the back of me.

 

Bill, I’m going to come one of these years, I’ve been on a few car related adventures this summer and work is busy setting up a new shop in a new town. I’m all out of excuses now!

No pics today but I got some more done on the wiring. I just hope when I get done and turn the key I don't smell electricy!

 

I have been working on the wiring on the Corvette today. 1 Step forward 2 steps back. I had to take the p***enger side header off because one of the header bolts was cross threading. I got that taken care of. Hopefully I can get it started tomorrow.

 

There is always this but don't know if it comes in negative ground or not

 

I don't need to buy any. I always make my own!

If you don't get them bled just drive it to LF without brakes and we'll bleed them Saturday.

New wheel cylinders and shoes are in. Re-checked all the brake line fittings. No leaks and the car stops. I think I might have done something right. It's after noon, I think I'll have a beer.

 

I’m heading out for Lloydfest tomorrow. We have a few issues to fix on my car

 

I just got a truck load of NOS ignition tune up kits and some ***orted other parts. So I started going through the boxes to see what I have figure out a way to market this stuff. Looking like most of this stuff goes as new as early sixty's.

 

I just had this column shift bracket 3D printed for my 46 Olds from an original, keeping a spare OEM column shift mechanism as I have spare 3D printed shift ****ons. Added Park and OD positions to column. a 3/32" drill bit will be the new locating dowel pin. Today's technology is amazing when replicating obsolete parts.

 

Just switched this one today from positive earth to negative earth and calibrated it for 8 cylinders

 

P***enger side requires no more work other than the hot pipe and the blow off valve. Hard to believe but we are finally getting there. I am so stoked to be at this point in the build. Both sides would have been done if I had not ran out of Argon for the TIG welder. still need to run the oil lines and returns. We still have to do the new distributor and spark plug wires

 

Stabbed the the rocket in the Olds for the first time since 2018 when I pulled it to paint the car.

 

Got my rough running/hard starting/dying engine figured out. Changed out the condenser and everything's back to normal. I recall leaving the ignition on overnight some time ago and from then on it was just not running right, or most times not at all. Note to self: pull the damned key out of the ignition when you walk away from the hotrod!
Changing out the condenser took all of 10 minutes. The rest of the afternoon I spent on the drill press, the grinder and the cutoff wheel making a crude, threaded pill to hang the p***enger-side rearview mirror. It's primitive but effective. I'm thinking of taking the '29 Model AA for its first drive tomorrow down my 3/5ths of a mile driveway and back. My son's coming in from Chicago and I'll ask him to ride shotgun on the maiden voyage. I've actually driven it up the driveway once after getting it off the rollback when I took it to my transmission guy to fine tune the TV cable. That was over a month ago now and I've been fighting the ignition battle since then. I also tightened up the steering box and adjusted the brakes - two things that alarmed my transmission guy during his test drive.

Finally dropped the Desoto Hemi into the Deuce.....

 

Love me some Firedome DeSoto hemi. Those stock air cleaners are PERFECT!

 

I trimmed my drag link spacer almost in half that I added to the steering arm during my build process



Couple years ago when I removed half the springs to free up the suspension it made it run uphill, but drove fine




I always zeroed in on that when looking at it from the front, so I finally took care of it.
