Technical Look what I just bought ! 52 Chevy

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by VANDENPLAS, Sep 11, 2026 at 12:51 PM.

  1. Well , I’m always looking at old cars when I’m out trucking around .

saw this green 52 last summer parked on the driveway by my folks cottage .

    nice clean car , but I got the 56 so I don’t need another car.or so I tell myself ! 81083590623__BCEACF0E-7B3E-4A06-8FF5-F9EBD01E7471.jpeg

this summer car is parked on the drive again , looking a little dusty and cob-webby.

Last week end I decided to stop and take a look , very clean outside and interior , 235 splash oiler and a 3 speed . Very clean car .

took down the number and decided to call , told car belonged to his brother who past a year and a half ago, sister in law needs the car gone and to make an offer .

talked to my wife who loved my 50 fleetline , she said hay , for the right price why not it’s “ cute”

so called the guy back made an offer and he said ok, come get it !! Dang I own a 52 !!

just paid for it and at the ministry of transport getting the ownership put in my name

tow truck showing up in about an hour .

That really is a very sharp, good looking car, I love the color and that its a survivor!
One of my favorite styles of that car, I once owned a very cool two tone light green and dark green 53, 4 door Chevy!
    Congratulations from Dennis.
Purely out of curiosity, what was the final price that you and the seller agreed on?

Looks like a nice clean car! Congrats! My first car that fit in here and brought me to the HAMB was a 52 Chevy as well.

All she needs are some whitewalls or at least some beauty rings and a SOS pad on the bumper guard.

Nice car, wrong visor on it. but...have fun!

  18. Your '56 needed a friend.
My wife and I buzzed around in a green '52 2dr. I killed a couple of the straight 6 engines I put in it driving the poor old thing too fast on the expressways.
Your two cars sitting side by side are an excellent illustration of the big difference between the early and late 50s.

My older brothers had a 52 4door and as a child, I remember during the winter sitting in the front seat shivering, teeth rattling waiting for the heater to work and guessing if the radio would begin to work first.
Very kool car and it’s shiny

If I was going to drive a “normal” car instead of a truck or business coupe, that would be on the short list. I’ve gotten used to more doors driving my wife around in her late model Pontiac. Much easier to handle a walker or transport chair than with a coupe or 2dr sedan.
I’d keep it on blackwalls, current height and just enjoy it for awhile. Figure out what it needs, as opposed to my usual dive in and make a mess for myself.
    Nice new ride.

new brakes all around , electric fuel pump , new lines , flex lines gas tank , line , front end stuff is new engine is very clean with good compression .

spent the day changing all the fluids, grease and going over everything
My brother spent the day washing, waxing and polishing the paint and gl*** , still need to see what can be done with the chrome and the interior out a quick vacuum and wipe
    Huge difference from yesterday !!

    didn’t even need a battery !!!!!!

first car I’ve ever bought that didn’t need a dang thing !!

need to get it safety certified next week and she’s on the road driving

    holy **** that was quick

Pretty cool both her and the 56 in the garage !

  28. Plans are to lower it , chrome trim rings , and maybe a set of port-a-walls .

thinking of doing a 12v conversion , but she’s running so well I think I’ll be lazy and just enjoy !!

Before and after the difference my brother did with a bunch of hours and some polish .

need to figure out some lights , brake lights don’t work , and it’s got turn signals but not working .

no biggie in the grand scheme of things

It's beautiful! Do I see an overdrive handle under the dash?
