Went to a cruise night at a place I had never been before. Only a few cars, but some nice stuff. The red Polara had to be a concours level restoration. It was beyond perfection. Was 4 sp as well.

 

They should be pretty tight - that’s a technical term - I usually have to tap them in with a hammer, and remove by prying off with a screwdriver.

That’s what I’ve experienced on my DDs, but they’re typically rusty/crusty. Haha!
I said I wasn’t going to work on the speedster, but put these new lug nuts in some vinegar to remove the bright zinc coating.
Got to change the oil, power steering cooler, and front wheel bearing on my daughter’s car.

Haha! Did drop into Wendy’s for a bite. There’s was a guy causing a ruckus inside. Yelling, agitated, he tried grabbing my tray from the worker behind the counter. Told the manager to get him out of there as it wasn’t safe. As I was finishing up my meal, the cops showed up and handcuffed him and led him outside. Lol!
I ended up talking to someone for over an hour. Maybe you know him. Had a 67 Buick GS 400.

 

The residual valves and fuel tank vent arrived. They were mailed which was weird.

 

Took the lug nuts out of the vinegar bath and the zinc coating was completely gone. Left them in a strainer for only 15 mins, and they “flash” oxidized. Crazy! So back into the bath.



Google AI has now given me three different answers as to what the order of components should be for my rear brake circuit. It’s now saying I cannot use the Wilwood cylinder in series with the other components as it will blue the seals. Geeze!
Took me over an hour to wrestle the stupid hoses off the old power steering cooler. What a cluster of clusters…

 

I know him by the real nice '67 Buick he has.I forget names easily but always remember a face by it's car,lol!

 

Lug nuts soaked in engine oil, and heading into the oven at 400F for 45 mins.

That's a name I haven't heard in a while. The last time I saw Carling Avenue must have been 50 years ago! It was wall-to-wall Dusters with long shackles on the back then.

Heading to see my aunt on Tues. She’s nearing the end so want to see her while she’s still lucid. My sis and her husband will be flying to TO, and will drive the rest of the way to London, ON. She’s the last one left of our parents generation as well. Man, time flies.
Will stop in Odgensburg, NY on my way down to pick up the speedo cable. Will also stop to pick up that Sun dwell/tach machine as it’s on my way as well. My weld bung(s) for the fuel tank valve arrived today. Feel like working on the tank a bit when I get back, but we’ll see. Summer is definitely over, and you can feel that fall is here. Was 9C yesterday morning.

Visit with my aunt turned into a slight cluster. My sis’s flight was delayed 2.5 hrs, then ultimately cancelled. She booked another flight for tonight, and then that flight was delayed, so she pulled the plug as it’s a battle to get back all her out of pocket expenses.
Decided not to venture into Odgensburg, NY to avoid any issues with all the **** in my car. Just needed them to open the truck and then think the Sun tester was some sort of “device”. lol!
Just brought into the hotel rm to have a look see. I thought it might have a 120V power cord, but no. Seems it runs on some sort of battery which likely is no longer available. Something else to sort out. It’s in really good shape. Can’t believe it was only $20.

 

Picked up the speedo cable this morning. Also got the Sun tester powered up after adding a couple of D cell batteries. Will see if I can use it on my speedster. Vid of the tester after installing the batteries.

Thanks. She’s had a good life, and she’s being well taken care of by her son who has been essentially taking care of her every day for the last couple of years. We should all be so lucky. She’s back home for now which is the best for her.
The mode selection knob is super stiff to rotate. I was going to take it apart, but then noticed the screws are some type of tamper proof style. Haha! Nothing is easy.

 

Those are clutch point screws, standard on old chevy's.

 

Never heard of that term before I started looking for a driver bit for them. Bought these.

 

Still not sure how all this YT channel stuff works, but my kiddo discovered that some clown took my short vid with almost 2 million views and made this. Haha!

Bits arrived the other day. Pulled the panel off. There are a ton of caps underneath. I’m sure they must need to be replaced. Asked my buddy what he thinks.

 

Created this thread on the fuel tank. Picked up a nicely made aluminum one yesterday. This will be another “project”.

Finally got the stupid AstroVan shifter freed up. Took a lot of banging, and then a short tube extension on the shifter stub, and then it just suddenly came free. I need a new return spring after I “softened” it up with heat from my oxy torch. Also needs need bushing on the shifter. I’m sure none of these parts are available as the entire ***embly is riveted together.

My buddy said the caps don’t appear to be of the electrolytic type, so should be good still. He said to use cooking oil to free up the stuck mode switch. Might head out to this show.

 

Ended up going to that show plus another one in Montreal. Was a 10 hr day and drove along the St. Lawerance Seaway after leaving the first show. It’s an absolutely beautiful part of the country, with views of the mountains in Vermont once you get into Quebec. Not much at the first show other than muscle cars that was pre-65. Did spot this 64 Windsor which reminded me of my grandmother’s 64 Saratoga. This doodlebug was also pretty cool. The cars in Montreal was all foreign stuff, so can’t post any pics. Did see one old Olds convertible though. Was nice with white interior, console shift with buckets.

 

Um, the wax capacitors are electolytics and will probably need replacement. But I dont understand the two capacitors wired in parallel with their polarity reversed. You might want to check a wiring diagram or find another unit you could compare to see if someone has been in there before. Good luck with its restoration!

Interesting. He mentioned they looked like wax, but also said they should be ok. I’ll have to got back by through the manuals, but pretty sure there was no schematic. Still letting the knob/shaft soak in some coconut oil. I’m a bit apprehensive about prying off the knob as there is no setscrew.
