Hot Rods 32 roadster…rebuild & shakedown

I previously used Firestone bias in a 560-15 front and 700-16 rear to get the look I wanted on a highboy/roadster and I’m finding these sizes very similar in look. The 750r16 excelsior roadster tires (on paper) seemed to me a tad big for these 450 fronts so I went with the 700r16s and I’m pretty happy with that choice. If/when Coker does a 550 for the front, I’d reconsider the 750 for the rear. Until then though, I think this is the correct combo for these little highboys.
As to driving…only a couple hundred miles, but all good so far….
Have a 1,000 mile trip planned in a couple weeks.
I’ll have a better answer after that.

Well…hells bells…she’s done a couple little trips and she’s my avatar now so must be time for a road trip.



Have a nice little four day trip through the Rockies planned and looks like I’ll be dodging some rain. Better slather the windshield with some rain-x. And just for some added excitement, I saw a snowflake on the weather app for Saturday, so that oughtta be fun.

Great thread and great work! Nicely done. Where did you source the mother of pearl for the dash? I’m looking for some as well.

 

Easiest is Amazon. Type in “pick guard”. Should get tons of options. My buddy plays/fixes guitars and put me on to it. Can get at some music stores that do repairs, but I found selection light. Hence Amazon.
Just double check sizes before you order.

You can also search for drum wrap, Usually this material is thinner than pick guards and is available in a wide range of patterns and colors.

 

Heading to the Radium show or just a road trip?

 

The planned trip was to Nelson, BC for their S&S this past weekend. Forecast and actual ended up wet on both legs of the trip so chickened out and drove the Tudor. Good thing.
Wiper and RainX saved the day.
