    I deleted some posts here.

Fellas, I say again... Please don't post politics or religion on the forum.

  2. Hang in there, Boss. I only know you from this [ YOUR] forum. An old saying " this too shall p***" probably fits.

Interesting, I was wondering about this recently as I noticed that my car-related searches no longer put the HAMB directly at the top (90% of the time) but instead it's the AI response at the top which is inaccurate at best and blatantly wrong at the worst. I've noticed the AI response doesn't seem to link The HAMB, but usually links Hot Rod Magazine and others but incorrectly uses the information it finds there.

I've started searching and fishing through the results to fine The HAMB just to make sure that link gets clicked. I figure traffic is good for a site like this.

Obviously those of us that are logged in aren't the target of those ads, but is there anything in our internet habits we might be able to adjust that would help with your numbers?

Let's say "a cup of coffee at home" and it is a good comparison.

It appears that the ONLY thing us HAMB members can personally do to help compensate for @Ryan 's 80% loss of revenue is BECOME ALLIANCE MEMBERS!!!!
It's the RIGHT thing to do...a free ride does NOTHING to help keep the lights on.

The kid represents common sense, the locomotive represents the unsuspecting general public world wide, about the giant boulder on the tracks which represents AI !

The idea is to make enough money to support the sites from users that aren't logged in. It's worked well in the past and I will figure a way to make it work well in the future. As explained, we took one on the chin for sure from AI.

BUT, AI is not my biggest concern at the moment.

I myself, can come down to Boulder 1 day a week and help you out for gratis. Clean the shop, bathroom, pack merch, stamp tags,, whatever you need. AND I'm not on FB or IG and dont watch the news so I will not be discussing anything about politics, world troubles or religion..It'd give a good reason to drive my '36Pee-Cup a bit. Just sayin,,,Mitch.

Dude. That is too kind of an offer. Sincerely.

I so wish this was something I could just sweat equity the **** out of... If it was, it wouldn't stand a chance.

You better get your *** down here for a beer or a coke or some **** though... Shop is in Bloomfield. Just east of Hipster. :)

Really, if it turns out you need some help, I'm your guy. Oh and by the way, it'll be a beer, probably COORS !!!..... UNLESS ya got some LONE STAR...or anything cold!!! And really for all you do for US, helping you out a wee bit is the least I can do. :):):)

I use Duck Duck Go for searches with "noai." appended to the URL (https://noai.duckduckgo.com/) to get results without any AI summaries, which I avoid like the plague.

I want human experience, not a machine summary of human experiences.

My sis told be a couple days ago about some crazy scheme she concocted or heard about using AI, blockchain tech, and NTFs to make $$$. I’m sure this is true.

Thanks for posting @Ryan. Awesome to see some guys reach out to help and so we can understand a little of what is going on. Im sure its stressful but its been awesome how the place has been effectively free for so long and no doubt its been a lot of work.

For others reading this and really want to help, that arent already, become an alliance member. The benefits are symbiotic and is less than $1/week. Not only do you get awesome discounts but also help keep this site up and running. Win/win.

Im sure you are getting a LOT of suggestions Ryan on how you can pivot and if I may can I throw another one out there. Seems the Alliance scheme might be one that could be tweaked, even in a minor way. Perhaps restricting posts on the cl***ifieds section to Alliance only members? In a way just like car ads used to be in some publications, paid, only the benefits of being an alliance member are much better than just a print ad.

H.A.M.B. got me through recovery from 7 major operations over the 25 years I've been retired, long, lonely, painful months when I was unable to do anything in my shop, the place I most wanted to be. I kind of lived my life vicariously through the posts and living for the days I could back to my shop. I'm far from wealthy, but upping my dues is a no brainer for me to be able to help out a little bit and do a little pay-back.

One question is given the current number of Alliance members at 50 bucks per year how much would the dues have to increase to cover the current loss in revenue? But @Ryan might not be agreeable to that solution even if it was doable? However I'm in for whatever I can do to help.

Whatever you decide, there's enough of us to make it work.

My phone has been trying to force me into using AI instead of providing actual responses to my searches, it's really annoying.

Ai. you haven't seen anything yet.

It is completely destroying my way of business... because talentless hacks now think they are creators.
It's a digital virus that is embraced by big business,... It's extreme far reach has very large dangerous consequences....

This exactly, despite not being much of an artist myself, I find it insulting when folks call a generated image 'AI Art' a machine cannot make art end of.

Back on topic, no issues with doing what you gotta do to keep this ship right @Ryan

Always grateful for the escapism this place provides.

I don't really understand computers/internet or AI. Hell, I can barely navigate the HAMB. I wonder if the extra revenue for alliance memberships would offset the lost revenue from popups that the lurkers have to weed thru. I do know that without the HAMB there would be a huge void in my day.

  29. Thats an interesting idea that i could get behind. And maybe only alliance members could see a new cl***ified post for the first 3-7 days to give them first dibs?
