I have a bad feeling. I was driving the 59 caddy tonight and i noticed a lot of smoke i bring it in the garage and check the oil dipstick and it looks like tan foam.
Is this as bad as i think? no knocking, just some smoke and some oil that looks like burnt vanilla milkshake.
Cracked water p***age? I'm feeling sick. this is not good!

check your plugs and look for signs of burning some water ?. i wouldn't write off the motor yet. could just be time for some top end work.

    good luck.

Pressure test the cooling system overnight with the plugs out. Next morning, crank it over - you'll likely see coolant spray from the plug holes

lets hope its a head gasket, that would be fun. Anything else you would find would probably be a nightmare.......sleep on it.

Ah, don't let it get you down too bad man...it can all be fixed...hopefully it's just a head gasket...What's the story on the mill? You ever have it apart? If so, what kind of head gaskets did you use? There's two kinds offered for these motors...the original metal shim type, and Felpro offers a composite gasket as well. If you use the shim type, you have to retorque them...the composites you don't. Also, the shim ones are more prone to failing...give us some more info when you can...mileage on the mill, rebuilt or not, how far you drove with it smoking, etc...Go easy about this...panic only makes things worse...Good luck!

Thanks guys. Now that the shock is over. I'm going to pull the plugs and look a little deeper to what is going on. I hope it is just head gasket. the motor has a lot of miles on her and I'm truly suprised it lasted as long as she did.
