• Origins: Sponsored by Alpine Pontiac in Brooklyn (where Joe Black worked), the car originally ran a 421 Pontiac engine at regional strips like Dover Drag Strip and Westhampton Dragway.

• Evolution & Engine Changes: After a crash in 1962, the car was rebuilt with a new ch***is and nose. When GM temporarily pulled back from factory racing support in 1963, Joe Black and team switched to Mopar power, running a 426 Dodge Max Wedge and later a Hilborn-injected 426 Hemi.
