Jim and I never clicked. Different wiring, different way of looking at the world, and we both knew it. But I never once doubted the man's love for hot rodding, and I never will. He put in real work. Actual contribution, the kind most people just talk about and never get around to.
I met him some 20 years ago. He came by my place and we did some horse trading on parts. He was heading somewhere else with more he was trading to someone. But we did talk for a short spell, I forget what magazine he wrote for, I commented “well dang, you’re famous” He said “No, just a hotrodder” RIP
I Never met him, but used to read some of the stuff he wrote in R&C. 'Had a couple of online run ins with him over on Instagram. 'Seemed he had a pretty high opinion of his ideas and little tolerance for dissent. I was just curious as to the veracity of what I saw elsewhere.
Sad to hear the news of Jim's p***ing. We had some disagreements and good discussions that didn't change our minds. I met him in person at LSR and seemed to be friends ever since. Will be praying for the family and his many friends.
