How do I remove the steering shaft from the steering box on an early falcon? [Standard column shift] I cant get the shaft to separate from the box. The column tube is a tight fit to it.
Anyone done this or have an exploded diagram?

If I'm not mistaken-the shaft comes out with box.Had couple of 67's,the shaft slides out of column once you remove steering wheel.Unsure if early ones are the same-but good luck anyways!

you don't, they early boxes are 1 piece. You have to remove the steering wheel, and column. Then unbolt the box and slide box/shaft out as one. Might be tight with engine and exhaust installed. It wasn't til '67 that they started using rag joints, so the shaft could be seperated from the box
