BIG SWAP MEET AT THE FAIR GROUNDS IN INDY. NOV. 26/ 06 (Sunday) Are there any H.A.M.B'ers going? Looking forward to seeing ya. Bob allsteel30ford
Wasn't aware of a swap meet in indy, i need a few more things (like...100 things) will probably come over from dayton.
I'll be there. I need a T5 5 speed for my cabriolet. Getting ready for a trip to 75th deuce reunion in California.
If I do end up going (I really shouldn't thanks to a very ****** red bank account haha).... I'll wear Plowboy's "Hot Rods from Ur****" shirt
Not sure of the family turkey day plans, but I am planning on it. I will be the guy wearing the gold chain.
Me and one of my buddies will be there early...about 8 a.m. when they open. I will have on my Indy-Hiwinders jacket. I need a few things for my A roadster project. You will probably see about a dozen of these jackets but I'll be the old fat guy with the empty check book!!!! See 'ya all there...you too Steve.
I will be there early. This is an annual event. It is usually packed, I think everyone is tired of being stuck inside after the long weekeknd.
I will be there early as well, and so will a friend of mine. Did you go to the one in October? I did and it seemed kind of small, was all in the one building. I don't really need anything but I love to go anyway. I always find something to buy. Vic
Pay attention to which fairgrounds, it's at the STATE fairgrounds, there's a County fairgrounds also, clear around the other side of the city. Last one I went to, year before last was very weak on the type of stuff we look for, lots of chrome valve covers, Moroso parts, worn out stock car stuff, take-off (new car& truck) wheels & tires, metal signs, posters, beef jerky, etc. Very few actual old parts. I swore it off after that. Good luck.
I too was very disappointed in the October swap meet. Until I read some good reviews from some other hamber's I won't be going to any more Super Chevy swap meets at the Indiana State fairgrounds.
Even the Marion County Fairgrounds events are losing some of their luster. I guess that the pool of parts that guys like us are looking for is diminishing. I will probably go on Sunday, more as a social occasion than really looking for parts. That said a friend of mine scored a killer deal on a 6-71 with an original bug catcher and several half inch pitch pulleys at the last Mid America show. Roo Man
McQueen, You hit the nail on the head about the indoor MidAmerica swapmeets held at the state fairgrounds. If I ever find anything at these, it's only because you guys accidently overlooked it. The outdoor swapmeets at the Marion County fairgrounds held twice a year, (May and Sept) are the best. They will never be like they were 30 some years ago. What I tend to notice about all of the swapmeets here in Indy is that from meet to meet the same parts show up in different vendors' spaces and usually the price goes up. +, Ebay has really changed the way swappers buy and sell.
