Well I thought I would be thrashing on this last week but instead was thrashing on my own roadster to get it rite for Pistons and Paint. After all the dust settled it was time to get back to work on this coupe. I got the Coker rims/tires in a couple weeks ago so I could finally get this ch***is off the jack stands. And I do have to say, the hamb alliance works great and the red carpet was definatly rolled out, I even got a thank you card in the mail yesterday. Anyhow back to the Coupe. I seem to do things the old fashioned way (aka the hard way) but after a few hours of sweat I got the firewall cut for the recess, and the ch***is under the body. Definately got a different look from when I first got it. Plans for the week include, ligning up mounting holes, starting and finishing the firewall recess, setting up for a 32 gas tank, removing the stock gas tank, etc. Too much work. Anyhow I thought I would give everyone a update on what the I have been up. Dont judge the valve covers, and the air cleaner, Those wil be changed out for some better goodies. RUSTY It is amazing what poeple try to hide ( bad stuff covered up on the firewall) The hopefully finished product thanks to Slide here on the Hamb
Ok...stupid question...if ya'll were gonna run blackwalls from the get-go, why buy the more expensive whitewalls only to run them inside?
Larry, I tried for 2 weeks to get some big and littles that were black walled and bias plyes 15". They just dont make them. Well they do but the side walls dont match. The car is running small Ford bolt patter so I was kinda limited on wheel choice to keep it cool in my opinion looking. I even tried 16" new Forty styled wheels but they dont come in 4" wide so running anything smaller than 6.00-16 was out of the question. I hated to do it but my options were very limited. SO the white walls will get stained/dyed black with the Coker tire dressing to hide the whitewall when finished. Who knows I hate white walls but It may end up being a white wall car. Rusty
I never knew those cars had fenders. Looks good man. Is that the one that was in your garage when I was down there?
man it's looking great.looks like you are a hot rod building machine, does you wife see you very often? keep up the good work. -danny
some times it cost me more to get out of the doghouse, than i made getting in it. for our own good,we need to keep our wives from talking to each other. keep up the good work. -danny
Dang you work fast! AND you do it with a full time job! You must sleep about 1 hour a night. The coupe looks great!! I should just drop everything off at your house so I can be driving in two weeks! haha!
Don't you hate those "if it were mine, I'd...." replies?! Well, if it were mine, I wouldn't chop it, or, very slightly at the most. Love the fenders, the blackwalls, the chromies, hopefully, it'll come down all around some more. Dang, I'm liking what you've got going on.
Owner is contemplating chopping it now. Sure am glad we have not cut it already. I am gonna get him over to sit in it and see how far he wants to take it if any. It should settle down atleast 2-3 inches all around with liquids installed. Thanks everyone
looks very good...keep us up to date on the 32 tank install. How will you change the rear pan? Or do you have another plan? DeuceDog
Damnit man, I swear you guys never sleep. Coupe looks killer. I have always been a ****er for the fenderd cars. Like everything you guys do, It's gonna be bad ***, I can tell.
I worked part time as a kid in a tyre shop in the 80s we used to fit BFGs with the white writing on the inside and people thought we were mad but wed tell the customer to have a look under neath and see how much cleaner it made the underneath look and that when time came to sell the car people would look under the car and asume the rest of the car was as well looked after as the underside ,try it and see if it does highlight it
