  1. Ok, not under it's own power yet, still a trailer queen.

I'll be in Austin this coming weekend to pick it up from Crushproof to move it to Atlanta.

    Anything going on Friday night?

    good luck!
Atleast yours will be on the road soon, mine's stuck at a different auto shop in Campbell sitting and waiting for the engine to be worked on and finished:(
It's been there almost a year already and it's excuse after excuse why it's not done yet!
yours just might get on the road before mine.
best wishes and keep us updated.

well, let's just say the free 215 has been trumped.

I procured a 289 (running even!)which is attached to a transmission of "unknown type" which was shifting well when yanked. along with it are manifolds, pulleys, hell, the first couple feet of exhaust are still there.along with carb, trans lines, you don't get the alternator (sorry) but you can have the bracket. Starter won't work with the new mill either, so I will leave it bolted on,too. I even think it has electronic ignition instead of points.

nothin' terribly special about it (except the *****in chrome valve covers) My plan was to stab this ***embley, but the project that it came out of ran into some delays.
no excuses, but hopefully it will feel less like wasted time. I would probably freshen the motor prior to installation, but simply due to the fact that in order to install it, you have to lift the truck off the motor, and you want to do that as few times as neccecary.

It's suffering from the 'ol "paid the guy in advance" for the work on the engine syndrome:(

was just a bit to trustworthy on my part and now i have to wait patiently.
    thanks for askin Rob,

I miss your van too, that thing was awesome!

  16. Holy F. I'm stoked.

I don't have the 215, we just found a baby nailhead in a junkyard the other day. Jeff popped a hood and said "ya see what I see?", I of course gave him my patented blank stare. I ain't the sharpest bulb in the fridge.

Alright Cab, let's get our ***es in gear so we can run head to head at HAMB Drags '07.

  17. Hey Doc., I just had a look at the ol' atlas and it looks like I'm going to to be driving right through Shreveport. You going to hurl waterballoons at me from the freeway overp***? :D

I once heard a rumor that the 2 barrel heads on a late 60's 289 worked really well with a 4 barrel intake manifold. anyone know if there is much truth to this? Curt seemed to think they were worth keeping (as in on the motor-not here with the 25 other "keepers")

little cam, little intake, mabey throw some rings and a 3 angle valve job into it, and it should move the flyin brick along right nice.

it should make a nice runner, either way. to the best of my knowledge, I don't think it has been apart.

the transmission may be a "fordomatic" but don't get me to lying...I know as much about Ford transmissions as I know about radio astronomy. (which is precisely enough to get us all in trouble with an alien race, but that goes on the other web board.):D

I thought I had even scared up a rear end, but that proved to be "problematic" to say the least. (unless you are into the whole "tires outside the fenders" look.)

  19. "With the introduction of 289 in 1963, horsepower jumped to 195HP with a 2-barrel carburetor and 225HP with the 4-barrel."

I'm going to have to do some homework.
