I was touched by Ratstar's request for prayers lately for his infant twins. I don't know him but I can't imagine being saddled with those kind of worries coupled the loss of his job and health insurance. It has to be doubley tough at this time of year. So I PM'ed Ratstar this afternoon and got his phone number and called him. We had a fairly long conversation and I could tell that he's hurting right now. Ryan says he's s stand up guy. We are a small group of guys who call ourselves Flatheads, Erie, Pa. for what we think are pretty obvious reasons. Our sole function in life is that we host a pretty decent traditional car show each September. We happen to have over 100 of our event T shirts that we were saving for our third annual event in 2007. These are high quality black Jerzees in sizes from medium to XXL. I'll try to post pics later but if that doesn't work I can tell you that they are very colorful with a built flathead and our logo on the back and a pocket size "Traditional Hot Rod & Kustom Roundup" over a checkered flag on the front. These shirts are not dated. So we would like to offer our shirts for sale for $40 each. $25 from each shirt sold goes to Ratstar's twins' hospital bills. We will ship them at no charge anywhere in the lower 48. If you want one and you live anywhere else, let's talk. We will also throw in a transferrable vinyl window sticker from our show with each T shirt. Ratstar (Clint) told me that he's facing a $2500 hospital bill shortly. If we sell 100 shirts we cover that bill. If we sell more he can buy those twins something nice for their first Christmas. Step right up. Thanks. Steve
Is there a phone number for the folks who want to order a shirt ( for guys who don't have a puter at home)
I wish I knew how to help out, its bloody awesome to see everyone rally support for a friend in need. . . Im in australia and while we have a close knit car culture it is still satisfying to see the same thing happening over there. . . cheers. . . and good luck in raising the money.
Glad to see someone jump on this. How about an address to send donation without purchase of a t-shirt (no offense they look baaad on me) Or PM me an address?? Thanks
Shelley. If you don't want a shirt how about letting me make a contribution to Ratstar on your behalf? I can't begin to pay back what I must owe for all the good things you do at Fordbarn. Steve
I get payed Friday, put me down for a medium. I'm too skinny for a large and the mediums make me look buff Please send me the info and I'll write a check Friday.
I am in for a XXL and a Hundred. Please let me know where to send the dough. PayPal is good for me, too. Ebert
Paypal pymt for 1 large on its way. My 6mo old daughter is falling asleep on my lap as I'm typing...so I can sure sympathize with Ratstar...that would be a tough situation. Gary
Hey, thanks for offering to help out. You can mail a payment or I just got a Paypal account setup and it seems to work OK. I will also be sending a copy of the DVD from our '06 Hot Rod Roundup to everybody who buys a shirt. They won't be ready for a while but I'll have everybody's address. My address is: Steve Swavey 3219 West 39th St. Erie, Pa. 16506 For Paypal email me at sswavey@aol.com Thanks again.
Look at this guy. He's being way to generous to a bunch of misfits who call themselves HAMBers! Awesome Steve. Thanks even more now!
Squirrel. When we started this I didn't think about you guys being so generous as to order more than one T shirt. And I know 80 bucks is a lot to pay for two shirts. But $25 per shirt is going to Ratstar. We're not waivering on that. We just need to cover the cost of the packaging and shipping and hopefully have enough to replenish the shirts for our show in September. If anybody wants two shirts (and I think we have already had some orders) we should be able to go $75. I hope that works for you. And thanks very much for helping out.
