i would love to see some pics from mid to late 60's,into the early 70's car shows.i went to plenty in the early 70's here in the Los Angeles area when I was a kid.let's see some pictures!!
Always great to see these early pictures. In the seventies I owned the El Matador, My young friend, Chili Catallo, built the Lil Deuce Coupe and I helped him. I featured the Beatnik Bandit in a car show in Florida in 1961. Always a kick to see pictures and remember. I don't think Bob Larivee gets enough credit for producing these shows over the years. I leased the Bandit from him. Keith Ashley and I must haved crossed paths many times, because I was from Mich in my younger years and went to all the early Autoramas.
Wow! These are great. Some of those "designs" really illustrate that art is subjective! It's cool to see these cars as viewed through the lens of an average joe compared to the "stock" shots we're used to seeing in print. New angles and perspectives. Really neat.
A few more... Ultimus, seen in other posts... but it fits the theme Same car seen in the late 70's From Carnut.com this wild Corvair And one more from Keith his collection
Hippy Happening? That must be the "corporate" spelling of Hippie. Bikes were a big part of the car shows in the late 60's.

Here's 3 pics from Detroit's Autorama in the 60's. The first picture is of Al Bergler's "More Aggravation" car when it was red. The second picture is of Al accepting the very first RIDLER AWARD from Don Ridler's widow in 1964. The third is of Al Bergler's "More Aggravation II" , a canopy car that Al built.Note Al's original More Aggravation in the background and the sign with the word aggravation mis-spelled. Does anyone know where More Aggravation ll is? There's a $1000.00 reward if it's found and can be bought.Contact me @ hemifarris@aol.com .....Many of Rikster's black/white pics are from Detroit's Cobo Hall autorama........Mike
This car is GORGEOUS! Somebody needs to build this (Killer, I know of a certain 56 that could look like this )
Here is a current pic of the 1966 AMX prototype. Its home is the Crawford Auto-Avaition Museum in Cleveland, Ohio where I volunteer 1966 American Motors AMX Coupe prototype www.wrhs.org
