I have decided to upgrade the GMC to 3 rochesters instead of the 97s that are on it. I bought three and some parts from Vintage Speed. My dillemma is that the spacing on the extended throttle shafts is off, my base is longer from the center of the butter flys to the throttle arm. I called Charlie and he said that I have some odd carbs, and the trim the bases with the band saw. This messes with all of the linkage and the fast idle cam on that side. Any body else have this problem? Does any body have any small bases around that can get a measurement for me? I hope that this will not turn into a bash Charlie post as they have in the past.
I have a couple laying around. Two are 2 3/4" from center to the end of the shaft housing. One I have is a GM truck base it has a Chevy bow tie on top plate. It is 3 1/4" from center to the end of the shaft housing. The nose of the truck 2G is extended 1/2". And as for Charlie he does great for what he has to work with and for his prices.
Can you send me some pics and let me know how these work out.? I have a 302 GMC in my A and have ran 5- 97's for the last couple years and they have ran pretty good, the engine is 125 overbore with a killer MCGurk camshaft and four spped trans with quickchange rear axle. I just ( before the hunret car show) put a 600 four barrell on the engine as the 97,s needed more attention than i had time to give them. I dropped the rear gear to a 3:00 and the 600 holley put me in the 11 mpg range on the way up to Morris from Indy. What are you using for a manifold ?? Howard ?? How about a couple pics of your XO/PP Here are some of our XF/PP from this year. Didnt quite get it to the speed we wanted . www.gasolinealleyshops.org
