I tacked my ladder bar brackets on the 'ol banjo rear and made a crossmember for the front mounts. Also learned my flathead won't turn after a quick freshening . Don't know why. It turned before I re-installed it. Oh well....I have another car to build. The Beater will be put aside for a bit.
been laying around on the couch recovering from an appendix removal last week. First time in my 37 yr life I've been in 'the humanbody-garage' for a repair...
I got ALOT accomplished over the long weekend. Did some s****booking Finished painting a couple of doors in the house Cut, primed, painted and installed some trim in kitchen Made a side dish to take to my Aunts house on Thanksgiving Fixed some soffet trim on the outside of the house and repaired a gutter Made and installed some visquen windows on my back porch Went to Borders to look at a copy of TRJ and the icing on the cake.......took Big Olds for a very nice drive on Sunday afternoon.
Ground on the RamHorn exhaust manifolds for the 3W ... Helped the wife put up all of her Christmas decorations ... Drove the 32 Roadster around on a Toy Run ... Sunday Almost 80 ... great weekend in Deuceland ... .
I moved a current ( long term) project outside and cleaned out and rearranged the garage to ake room for another car that needs to get slapped together and on the street for daily transportation.
Well for the first time in 20 years we got about a foot and a half of snow so I spent my time digging out and now its very cold and everything is frozen. Got now heat in the shop show I think I will wait until everything thaws out.
A friend came over to kick me in the rear. So we headed out to the garage and got the gas tank mounted in my roadster and the main piece of the floor welded in. r
Saturday I built new shelves and hung cabinets in the garage, cleaned and reorganized, moved some project stuff around for working room. Sunday I put up Christmas lights and put a whoopin' on an 18 pack.
Worked on the interior of the roadster, hemed the half tonneau. Went to the shooting range after going to the gun show. Ate too much food.
Besides eat myself into a food coma? I started on the patch for my rotten rear-wheel opening. Of course removing my gravel guard and cutting out the quarter revealed some other "thin" spots. Good thing I'm planning on cutting out my trunk and relocating my wheel-wells when I install my 4-link. Now I just have to prep and weld the patch in, then get started on the rot under the decklid...at least it's raining outside, a big motivator for installing patch panels Bryan
I got the 56 chevy truck axle back from the machine shop with new perty kingpin bushings. I Painted it and the spindles with por-15. I put it together and greased up the axle and one of the grease fittings shot out at me. I went and bought a new package of grease fittings and tried to screw one in the hole. I chewed up another fitting. The threads were screwed up so i had to tap the threads and then it behaved. Started taking the leafsprings off the front end. I'm still fighting taking the old master cylinder out. The brake pedal is majorly corroded to the pushrod that goes into the master cylinder. I'm seriously considering the oxy/acet wrench to make things happen! I've got to start brake lines soon....I think i'd rather wetsand...
The truck is outside the scope of the HAMB, but the 283 in my Scout lives again, after a six year hibernation. After we got it fired up with relative ease, we broke to smoke cigars and watch football. Good times. J Exhaust system is on the list. I drove to Austin to watch the Aggies beat the hell out of the Longhorns. Then I put the MEL together (long block) and gave her a good oil pressure and spin test. She spins and oild great. All is good in my world.
I had the kids this weekend and we went bowling and rode the go-carts. I did receive a call from Hot August Nights and they want to use my car in the Christmas parade next weekend. Hopefully the weather gets nice!
Quite a bit actually. Bought me a new miller 175 welder. Got new wiring, breaker and plug for it and got it installed in the garage and working. Ate till I could'nt move Thursday. Went to the swap meet at the fairgrounds Sunday. Found a rebuilt 283 starter for my little 301. Got a 4 blade fan they used on them in good shape, a adapter for the 650 spreadbore to my torquer intake, new dipstick and tube and some intake and valve cover gaskets. Also put up the christmas tree and outside house lights to get in the festive mood. Now it's I owe..I owe...it's back to work I go!!!!
Took my '49 Olds to the LB swap meet. Farthest I've driven it to date. Bought a '49 vintage vanity mirror, the kind with places for mileage and oil change data. Drove the car all around Bellflower. As soon as it stops raining I'm taking it out again and shoot a few pics of its reflection in the shop windows on the Boulevard. Man! Is there anything sweeter than the first few rides on a fresh out of the garage car? First bump down the Boulevard in 22 years. Runs, steers, stops and shifts just fine. I'm loving life!
I quit smoking...and talked Fiddy Four into selling me his truck (no, not the Stiff Willys, his other "beater")...and I worked...my work schedule ****s...
I took the 34 for its first drive in 10-12 years, Ut was only a couple of blocks but damn was it fun. That blown big block just keeps pulling til you let off the throttle. I also woke up a few of the neighbors. One of the rear wheel cylinders let go and ended my fun. It was kinda neat once I got the 33x17x15 Goodyear slicks heated up and lhooked up a little. Til then it was just tire spin like mad. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I found out Patty and I are going to be grandparents.
Um... I cut out and patched a rust hole in a friends pick up.Then I spent the rest of the time working on the Pontiac. I made custom mechanical door latch ****ons (eliminating the handles but not adding electronics or cables). I also rolled some beads in a floor pan and made the seat supports to go under it. Maybe one day someone will be able to get into and sit safely in my car! Oh and I relocated my door locks so they didn't look so aimless placed without a handle above them.
Wedneday I drove to San Antonio, the flew to Dayton, Ohio. Thursday drove to Toledo, ate too much, drank too much, had a great time with the in laws. Friday drove back to Dayton, spent time with my wifes mother, cooked chili (mother in law hates texas but loves texas food) Ate too much drank too much. Saturday had breakfast with sister in law and her hubby, then flew back to San Antonio, then drove back to Austin. Sunday dug out all the christmas stuff and went tooo far with the lights, worked in the garden some, fixed the leaf blower ate too much. I am glad to be back at work so I can get some rest. LOL
I went and looked at an overpriced sedan body that was rotted out, redid the backrests on my front seat and ate to much. Only one seat part to go and then it is time for painting everything on the inside and carpet
