Anyone in Oklahoma happen to know of any scrap dealers in or around the Tahlequah/Muskogee/Tulsa area? Preferably those that will take whole cars. I've got several that are going to scrap if I can't sell 'em by the first of the year. I won't be around much longer after January and I don't want to leave them around for everyone else to deal with so they need to go away quick. Anyone happen to know what they pay for scrap? Do they require titles to whole cars? Any help is much appreciated, Jesse
Put 'em on here, or if too new, Craigslist, eBay, something. Start 'em at a dollar. As for a recycler, try looking under metals at switchboard.com or online yellowpages.com for your area. You should be able to call them during business hours and find out exactly what you need to know - you may need to remove tires, fluids, etc. before leaving them; other places won't care.
Guess I should at least show the ones I have here. I'm gonna check the phone book but I'd like to hear from people who've dealt with them as well. I think scrap value would be like $100 at best usually. Doesn't matter what car it is. If you really need them gone that bad, surely a HAMBer would haul them off for at least the scrap value. Be better than seeing that iron get chopped up and sent to China.
Borg Compressed Steel. Borg Steel maps.google.com 1032 N Lewis Ave Tulsa, OK 74110 (918) 587-2511 Get directions We should talk before you go to scrapping that 59... Yo're only looking at around 100. per car. The gas tank needs to be removed, not just punched. If you want to scrap the tank it must be cut in half. They CANNOT have tires on them or in them when they get there or they will turn you away. Pull into the lot, loosen your straps, pull onto the scale and follow the directions the scale operator gives you. They will bounce you if you slow them down.
Thinking on this. If you are only looking at $100 per car, and you are hauling the damn things all the way to a scrap yard, wouldn't it be better to sell the cars WAY cheap and not have to screw with it?
$100?...doesn't that just figure...hey, it's better than nothing. I'd definitely rather sell them whole, and hopefully by January, but if it comes down to it, I'll sell off parts before sending the rest to smelterland (hint, hint...offer money...a whole car will sell faster). I can't put them on ebay because I have no access. Can't put 'em on any pay ad sites cause I don't have the money for that. I don't want to see any of them crushed/melted/touchedinappropriately but they have to go soon. I'm not gonna leave any of my business for family to handle. Remember, money talks. Still, I appreciate the help finding places to consider. Thanks, Jesse
You dying or something? Craigslist is free. There are several in OK plus you could list it in a TX list too. http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ok
